The Air Force on Tuesday revealed that it has secretly built and flown a prototype of its next-generation fighter jet, according to the service's top acquisition official.

The jet, built as part of the Air Force's Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program, was first disclosed to Defense News on Monday.

Air Force acquisition head Will Roper told the outlet that the service could now move the jet into production "pretty fast."

New US Jet. Obviously, we don't want to say ANYTHING about it.

But it is interesting.

Maybe not air Force jets but I am sure we have an array of arsenal that most Americans aren’t even aware of.

I think sometime back we fried in Iranian drone from a ship using some kind of weapon that sounded like it was from science fiction.

And it’s always amazed me how poor and middle class white and Black and Hispanic kids from all areas can come together to efficiently protect our country and form the best military in the country and maybe history.

At least when promotions aren’t based on anything but achievement.

It destroys the whole Democratic narrative on race

Gee hate to say it but...
I think the Air Force and it’s suppliers are trying to push production of an airplane that isn’t advisable in a day of drones that aren’t restricted by human g-force limits.

Honestly. I hate that human pilots are a disqualifying factor.
But they undeniably are.

Drones are the path to the future. Maybe the fighter sales folks are hyping this deal, but I don’t believe there will be any more fighters after this current generation....it’ll all go to drones. In 20 years, fighter-pilots will be 18 to 20 year old ‘gamer-kids’ who mostly sit in darkened trailers in New Mexico, and fly off in foreign lands.

The Armed Services are also a good place to learn English. ;)

Next generation fighters will have an array of drones flying with them.

Reading between the lines, this sounds like the F-35 has insurmountable problems if the Air Force is already building its replacement.

” in New Mexico “

IDK.
The speed of light could make that too far.
Even if the ‘drones’ have an AI subconscious ‘nerve system’, their conscious responses will have to happen quickly.

Maybe new airships will be elusive fast drone controllers and smart bombers. So we have less dependance on the obstacles which can occur from half a world away. Solar flares, drone killers, emp weapons, thunderstorms, birds, jammers,etc....

As early as 1995-96.

Built by the Luck-up Corporation?

More likely to be an F-22 replacement as the F-22 is now more than 20 years old and we only ever built 187 of them, some of which we have now had to scrap.

Something that’s more concerning - if the Air Force itself built this instead of putting it out for bid... just how horrifically bad is it going to be?

I don’t think they said that it wasn’t a drone. Signs are that it is. The A-I competition for air combat was just carried out. The Australians are working on “Loyal Wingman” a drone aircraft with quick-change mission modules. The mentioned program was done “in the Black” and has a very ambitious timeline. To me this all spells “drone”.

"Drones are the path to the future."

Clearly that seems to be the case, but I wonder about their vulnerabilities. If they are controlled remotely, disrupting/jamming the signal could render them useless. Alternatively, if they are made to be autonomous (like a cruise missile), they will have to be very, very intricately programmed - and we will be giving the power over life and death/friend or foe to autonomous flying machines.
