President Donald Trump on Tuesday repeated that he did not want to issue a national mask mandate during the coronavirus pandemic.
“There is, by the way, a lot of people don’t want to wear masks,” Trump said. “There are a lot of people that think the masks are not good.”
The president commented on masks after a voter from an ABC News town hall hosted by George Stephanopoulos asked him why he did not support a national mask mandate.
He recalled witnessing waiters serving at a restaurant touching their masks to adjust them and then touching the plates.
“The concept of a mask is good, but … you are constantly touching it, touching your face, touching plates,” he said. “There are people that don’t think masks are good.”
Trump recalled that former Vice President Joe Biden called for a national mask mandate during his convention speech, but backtracked on the idea.
“They checked out and they didn’t do it,” he said.
Trump also defended his initial response to the virus, despite complaints that he downplayed its deadly nature at the beginning of the crisis.
“I didn’t downplay it,” Trump said. “I actually, in many ways, I up-played it in terms of action.”
He argued that his decision to ban travel from China saved millions of lives, at a time when Democrats criticized the idea.
“I was so far ahead of my closing,” he said, noting that Biden was talking about the threat as exaggerated and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was calling for people to come visit Chinatown in San Francisco.

I struggle with masks.

that statement along will probably win him the election: people who have to work all day wearing those damn things absolutely HATE them!

totally ... and even more mind-blowing is seeing shoppers wearing googles and face-shields right after fauci said he thought that would be a good idea ... i always referred to shoppers decked out like that as biden voters ...
So go to a industrial safety supply store & buy a better mask . Get a reusable half mask that uses replaceable filter cartridges. These have a higher level of filtration & can be washed in the kitchen sink.

A “mask mandate” may do good in certain areas at certain times.
It would certainly never be good over the whole country at any time.

If masks were truly effective, they would be covered with virus. If they protected you from others, the outside would be covered. If they protected others from you, the inside would be covered. In either case, they're TOXIC WASTE.
So, then, why do we not find toxic waste disposal canisters everywhere we see mask signs. If Fauci and his minions really believed they were effective, he would be demanding disposal receptacles everywhere masks are mandated, along with free disposable masks, as well.
Four people I know, who immediately come to mind, who haven't been out of their homes since March.
Driving down the street the other day I saw a man in his driveway washing his car....with a mask on. No chance of anyone coming near him. I just shook my head.

It varies, but my doctor let me take it off in the office because I was dripping sweat, at least to wash my face with cold water.
