(I)t is very clear that in fundamental theory, socialism and democracy are almost, if not quite, one and the same. They both rest at bottom upon the absolute right of the community to determine its own destiny and that of its members. Men as communities are supreme over men as individuals.So Wilson regarded democracy as anti-freedom, anti-individual-rights, collectivist at its core, and ultimately geared towards centralization and undermining the rights of states. Since he equated it with socialism, he also clearly saw democracy as globalistic and atheistic, hence his effort at an imperialistic global government through the League of Nations.
