Bible in a Year:
Am I my brothers keeper?
A marine biologist was swimming near the Cook Islands in the South Pacific when a 50,000-pound humpback whale suddenly appeared and tucked her under its fin. The woman thought her life was over. But after swimming slowly in circles, the whale let her go. Its then that the biologist saw a tiger shark leaving the area. The woman believes the whale had been protecting herkeeping her from danger.
In a world of danger, were called to watch out for others. But you might ask yourself, Should I really be expected to be responsible for someone else? Or in Cains words: Am I my brothers keeper? (Genesis 4:9). The rest of the Old Testament resounds with the thunderous response: Yes! Just as Adam was to care for the garden, so Cain was to care for Abel. Israel was to keep watch over the vulnerable and care for the needy. Yet they did the oppositeexploiting the people, oppressing the poor, and abdicating the calling to love their neighbors as themselves (Isaiah 3:1415).
Yet, in the Cain and Abel story, God continued to watch over Cain, even after he was sent away (Genesis 4:1516). God did for Cain what Cain should have done for Abel. Its a beautiful foreshadowing of what God in Jesus would come to do for us. Jesus keeps us in His care, and He empowers us to go and do likewise for others.
Who has God entrusted to your care? How have you embraced that responsibility? How have you tried to evade or avoid it?
Compassionate God, thank You for Your care for me. You keep me and watch over me. Help me to do the same for others.
Keep the Lord’s Day in the Lord’s way.
A blessed Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost(Western)/Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost(Orthodox) to all!

Having a great time? Have you headed out to enjoy some of the gorgeous scenery or stayed put for the most part?
Howdy, radu...
We have been having a great time. We did get out earlier to go for their traditional weekly breakfast at the Virginian and then drove through town to see some townhomes that the kids have bid on to maybe have the chance to buy. There is a housing shortage of sorts here.
Then we came back and just hung out. The girls and I went fo a walk on the bike trail that runs behind their house. My hubby is now making rolls to bake sometime tonight. LOL!
Steve just started his second stream about the new hurricane in the gulf. I guess Ill watch and mod for a bit while the girls are getting ready for their weekly movie night.
It does sound like you’re having fun. I’ll bet the girls are tickled pink to have y’all up there for a bit.
I also bet they’ve grown a lot in the year since you last saw them.
Mmmmmmm, you could have left out the part about your hubby planning to bake some rolls tonight. That got the salivary glands cranked up. LOL! Fresh-baked rolls are sooooooo good!
As usual, YT seems to be hiding Steve’s stream. It’s not showing on his channel list. I watched a lot of the earlier one but was up and down, not sitting here straight through it.
I’m keeping an eye on Sally because it’s supposed to drench the FL panhandle and my step-mother is there. Also watching Paulette because my oldest cousin and his wife live in Bermuda.
I guess I’ll message him. Some chatters have probably already said something, but it won’t hurt to repeat it.
This crazy year is also having a crazy hurricane season. I don’t even WANT to know what’s next!
I have homemade rolls for breakfast every day. He loves baking them. He decided to do it for the kids today. They are yummy. I had to sneak some of the dough, of course. LOL!
