Birmingham NWS field office is shifting the flood potential and looking at the situation south of I-20 now, particularly along the I-85 corridor (that’s us). They’re now calling for 4”-8” in East Central Alabama, with locally higher amounts (possibly up to 12”). A Flood Watch has been issued; river and creek flash flooding is possible; a conditional tornado threat is along a line from Selma to Auburn. Winds 15-20 MPH sustained with 30 MPH gusts outside of convective bands; 30-40 MPH in heavier bands.
I just love this excitement! I was looking at the radar on weather.com and wondering if Sally will ever come ashore. I expected her to land in the wee smalls.
Scary predicted rainfall totals. Can’t recall who was talking about drought conditions in AL a month or so ago. This will make up plenty of deficit, with ominous side effects.
Been a pretty steady 15-25 MPH all morning here in the Gump. Rain shield is still well south, but radar is showing some afternoon convection popping in East Alabama and heading this way.
