PADUCAH - A Paducah man is dead, following a police pursuit and deputy-involved shooting Wednesday morning in McCracken County.
McCracken County Sheriff Matt Carter says deputies responded shortly after 8:30 a.m. to a complaint of a stolen vehicle, after the owner discovered it had been stolen sometime overnight. Carter says that during the investigation detectives learned the vehicle was equipped with OnStar, which enabled them to pinpoint its location. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle in the area of Cairo Road and Olivet Church Road shortly after 9 a.m. The suspect, 47-year-old Chad Busby of Paducah, then fled on Cairo Road.
Deputies were able to disable the vehicle with the assistance of OnStar as it turned onto Meredith Road. Carter said that as deputies got out of their vehicles, Busby turned and aimed a "large framed", semiautomatic gun at one of them. The deputy then shot Busby, killing him at the scene.
