The Rev. Al Sharpton on Tuesday slammed the nationwide call to defund the police as a “latte liberal” ideology.
Sharpton made the comments on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” during a discussion about policing and a recent spate of violence in the Big Apple.
“To take all policing off is something that I think a latte liberal may go for as they sit around the Hamptons discussing this as some academic problem,” Sharpton said.

It’s exceedingly rare that I agree with “Rev.” Al Sharpton - but he is certainly not wrong on this point.

Latte libs have their own gated communities and paid protectors. They feel they don’t need police. They will eventually find it inconvenient when they have to go out of their guarded communities in armored limousines or helicopters. Many of them are not that wealthy and can’t afford such things beyond paying for their guards and walls.
He is what he is but “latte liberal” is pretty funny. Spot-on with this remark too.
The anti-police movement is a white liberal movement, backed by suburban twenty-somethings who’ve never needed a cop in their lives. Black people who live in the areas that rioters are busy burning down know better.

They are not the only ones, Al. The street protesters and black leaders are too. You can’t blame this on rich white people. Defund doesn’t really mean Defund has been part of the dem talking points from the beginning, and Al is just doing his job, parroting.
Sharpton and the DNC know it is a losing message and have been trying to rephrase the “defund” calls for several months, but “the street” isn’t listening to him. Not only are they calling to defund the police, they are killing them and burning police stations wherever they can.
Al Sharpton said this? Man, I cannot believe there is something I agree with Al Sharpton on.
Funny thing is Sharpton himself is a “Latte Liberal”.

Al, defunding the police is a ruse to clear out the ranks of current police force so they can be replaced with SJW police.
It will be the equivalent of having Sharia police. They will enforce the “religion” of the marxists.
So who among the Freeper community would have guessed in 2005 that they would have been in greater agreement with Al Sharpton than with George W. Bush in 2020?
