Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla warned on Tuesday that people who don't take the Covid-19 vaccine will become a "weak link" that allows the coronavirus to spread.
Bourla, whose company is in late-stage testing for a potential inoculation, said he understands the public's concerns about vaccines, which are being developed in record time. He said Pfizer will only request authorization from the Food and Drug Administration after data shows that its vaccine is safe and effective.
But he also said people who decide against taking the vaccine once available "will not only affect their lives."
They "will affect the lives of others because if they don't vaccinate, they will become the weak link that will allow this virus to replicate," he told NBC's "TODAY."

This supposedly “novel” item is actually just a variation on the SARS virus, and, in fact, just about every virus emanating out of China. So they’ve obviously been working on this for years, but since viruses run through the vulnerable population, mutate and thus they’re gone by the time the vaccine is developed. This is the first time they’ve had government support for their efforts to make millions for a disease that will be gone by the time their vaccine comes out.
Ask yourself why none of their other attempts ever got this support...it’s because they were a waste of time, and until we had government promoted hysteria, there was no way the CDC or Gates was going to make money on this.

Stupid question since there wasn’t a vaccine for the Spanish Flu. You should read the history of the Spanish Flu and learn how much effort went into developing a vaccine. In fact, much of the knowledge of vaccines was developed in search of that vaccine.
Presuming the vaccine works, Pfizer’s CEO may not be sure, those not getting vaccinated will be the ones to get sick.
I think there’s lots of anecdotal evidence that people get sick after getting any sort of vaccination. To my way of thinking, the immune system has limited resources, and when it’s challenged those resources are diverted, hence not always available to fight other challenges. The extent to which this is so is probably dependent on the overall state of a person’s health and immune system, so it’s not a given. But it’s still a risk factor. Your body might be trying to fight a developing tumor when you assail it with a vaccine.
I have a relative who is a bio-scientist and works with Venture Capital companies investing in drug development.
He calls Pfizer a “monopoly”. He says he’s hoping the current fierce vaccine competition will break their hold on pharma.
It can only replicate among those who don’t take the vaccine, so what’s the problem?
if this vaccine is so awesome wouldn’t not getting the vaccine only potentially impact other folks that don’t get the vaccine?
They can’t eliminate covid virus with a vaccine anymore than they can eliminate the flu.
Where is that vaccine today?
At the time of the Spanish flu they didn’t even know what a virus was. Or RNA for that matter. It certainly impacted the development of medicine in the US and research.

Prayers for you KYgrandma! Another concern I have besides the rush factor is if COVID itself only provides 3-6 months immunity, will people have to be vaccinated repeatedly? Lots of questions surrounding this one. My son will likely be required to take it as he works in healthcare settings.

The Spanish Flu was caused by a H1N1 virus. Today’s flu shots contain a vaccine for the H1N1 virus.
