Postal Service Report: police block Florida congresswoman from touring USPS plants.U.S. Postal Service police officers barred a Florida congresswoman from scheduled tours at two mail-processing complexes Friday, blocking entry to the facilities and threatening to escort her from the property if she refused to leave.
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) had arrived at the Royal Palm Processing and Distribution Center in Opa-Locka, Fla., for a 4 a.m. tour to find the parking lot entry roped off with caution tape and a U.S. Postal Inspection Service cruiser blocking the gate. Local Postal Service officials informed her and union leaders waiting to accompany her into the building that national USPS leadership had directed them to bar the group from the building. At 6:30 a.m., Wasserman Schultz was denied entry at the Miami Processing and Distribution Center 10 miles away by a local Postal Service official as two armed Postal Inspection Service officers stood in front of turnstiles in the lobby.
A congresswoman was barred from inspecting two U.S. Postal Service branches on Friday, with the federal agency claiming she did not give the post office enough advance notice before arriving at the locations. Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz showed up at USPS facilities in Florida's Opa-locka and Northwest Miami-Dade on Friday, intending to investigate reports from postal employees of considerable amounts of undelivered mail there.
Yet upon arrival, Wasserman Schultz was barred from accessing the distribution facilities, with agency police preventing her from entering both locations. At one location, the parking lot was blocked off by caution tape and a USPS police car; at another, armed guards in the lobby prevented the congresswoman from conducting her inspection. The post office later said in a statement that it hadn't been given enough notice before Wasserman Schultz's visit.
"We spoke with her staff to explain that we were unable to set up the tour on such short notice, but would be happy to accommodate her at another time," agency spokeswoman Kim Fuller told media on Friday. "We look forward to working with the Congresswoman and her staff to arrange a visit in the near future."
An aide with Wasserman Schultz's office, meanwhile, said that the congresswoman "[wasn't] asking for permission," and that the short notice of the visit was intentional. "I sit on the committee that has jurisdiction over the Postal Service," Wasserman Schulz said afterwards "Now they are not allowing a member of Congress to get a bird's eye view of what's going on so I can get to the bottom of this."
ANTONIO PEREZ TWEET: USPS police barred Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz from entering two mail sorting facilities in Florida in the early morning hours on Friday, threatening to escort her from the property if she didn't leave.
ROTFLOL......she’s a complete and total idiot.
"But I have to come in....I have an appointment with my hairdresser to get blown. See my mask?"
She isn't. The people who vote for her and believe her are the idiots.
Could use her to grease the machines.
"Get out of my way, or you will join Rich and Foster."
I’m just amazed that this cuckoo bird is still holding office.
LOL.....good one.
Her hero is Vlad, and I dont mean Putin
Lol... the USPS’s polite way of saying “eff off, Debbie”.
Love it.
LOL. Cops just keeping criminals out of a secure facility.
I believe the goal was to stage a 'look at this half empty truck leaving the distribution center, why is Dejoy delaying the mail?' photo shoot. Trucks start rolling from P&DCs at 1am to make it to the stations in time, ideally the late truck would make the most dramatic photo opportunity since it'd be mostly empty since it brings back the equipment the clerks sorted out of at the station.
Wasserman Schultz showed up for tour of the postal facilities at 4:00 AM ?
and was greeted by postal inspectors, preventing entry .
It was a set-up !.. Show time !
Wasserman Schultz knew about it, and planned it.
Postal Inspectors knew about it, and were there and prepared.
It was not a tour scheduled by USPS that she was turned away from. USPS found out about her planned Kamikaze attack ahead of time and blocked her. They said she could actually schedule a tour and they would be glad to accommodate her.
Hey, Debbie. Where is that laptop they found located now? That’s what I would like to get to the bottom of.
I suspect the orders for a police presence to greet her came from “higher-up.”
ROTFLOL...the disappearing laptop happened about the time D/W/S was buddy-buddy with Obama....she even rode on Air Force One with him.
You must be a Postal worker!!
A 4 am tour???
