AUSTIN, Texas (Texas Tribune) - The Texas Supreme Court on Saturday rejected an attempt by Republicans to kick 44 Libertarians off the ballot in the November elections.
Several Republican Party candidates and organizations had sued to remove the Libertarians, arguing they did not pay filing fees a new requirement for third parties under a law passed by the Legislature last year. But the Supreme Court dismissed the suit, finding that the Republicans missed the August 21 deadline to successfully boot people from the ballot.

Are Greens and Kayne on ballot?

Never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
Silly people. Dont they realize that deadlines only apply to Pubbies.
so the court is basically saying filing fees are not required to be on the texas ballot.

If you read between the lines, yes.
But that is all too late for the 2020 election.
The Ledge will fix the issue next session.

Apparently so... unless someone objects.
So there will be more LOSERTARIANS on the ballot than there would be if someone HAD DONE THEIR JOB!
IMHO, I know it’s a free country. . .but with the future of America at stake why would anyone vote Libertarian to help the chances of the evil democrats to win. I guess they just can’t envision the democrats in total control of this country, Go figure.,
I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy nut, but this has been a pattern of the GOP this election season: They missed another deadline by 29 SECONDS, and lost their challenge because of that!
People will vote libertarian. And proudly boast about it. To this day you will still find people, even here at FR, who boast about voting for Perot and would do so again.
Does the filing fee requirement apply only to third parties? The article doesn’t say.
The numbers appear to be shifting nicely now in Texas. We should weather this fine.
The Libertarian Party is a huge fraud.
What is it with missing deadlines this year. What do we pay people for
And yet Kanye missed a deadline by a minute and was kept off the ballot.
Late Registration?
Having libertarians on the ballot is a good thing. Far more likely to peel off votes from dems than for those likely to vote GOP. I know a few folks who lean conservative but vigorously hate Trump. They would vote for Biden and democrat candidates out of spite. So, the third party gives them an out.
7 people on free Republic will get that joke.
The republican establishment seems to have a real problem with deadlines this election cycle. Fifth columnists, perhaps.
On the other hand, the Libertarians are going to siphon more votes from the democrats than from the republicans, except, perhaps, for the deep stater in the Senate seat.
This is about the “near future” not to mention distant future of America. With the major parties so so so so far apart idealogically, there is too much at stake. It really comes down to good vs. evil but many can’t see it that way.
