---SNIP--- The gun violence has helped fuel the citys skyrocketing homicide tally, making it all but certain that Philadelphia this year will record at least 400 murders for the first time since 2006 even as overall violent crime, which also includes rapes, aggravated assaults, and robberies, has continued to decline amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The trend comes as other big cities, including New York and Chicago, have also experienced upticks in violence during a summer of national unrest and anxiety, with the pandemic causing health and economic devastation, and several police shootings and killings of Black people sparking a widespread reckoning over racial inequality.

This needs to make the Pennsylvania ping!
*** Philly Metro Ping ***
It’s not gun violence, it’s black violence.
And guess who’s abusing the guns ?
Well since “gun violence” is a “health emergency” that means that the governor can issue mandatory orders to everyone in the state, right?

These are peaceful shootings. /sarc

Reckoning, there’s that word again.
Funny how it keeps appearing...
IOW the Dems have lost control of their drug gangs.
> several police shootings and killings of Black people sparking a widespread reckoning over racial inequality <
Those police shootings - justified or not - have NOTHING to do with urban gun violence. No city dweller is going to say The police just shot I guy I know. Some Im going to go out and shoot another guy I know.
So why did the the author feel the need to mention the police?
(rhetorical question)
Mostly peaceful.
Odds are most is black on black crime, but the media never ever report that. Much of it is gang related, but that never gets reported either.
It stuns and saddens me, that we aren’t allowed to discuss certain inconvenient truths. Such as, what proportion of crimes consists of black on black violence. We aren’t allowed to talk about how the black family structure contributes to delinquency.
When we talk about this whole subject of the legal system somehow discriminates against blacks, we aren’t allowed to say that blacks, unfortunately, commit disproportionate amounts of crime, which leads to them being in the criminal justice system more than other groups of people.
When we talk about how blacks as a group have bad educational outcomes, we aren’t allowed to talk of the portion of black culture who deride doing well in school as “acting white”.
If Eric Holder and his kind ever conducted their honest “conversation” about racial issues, there are certain topics such as I have mentioned, which are taboo and will get you labeled as a racist for even bringing up.
Memphis is up but not at these higher numbers, some how Strickland kept the riots from happening. Statues and small vandalizime. Until they hit Graceland. People are afraid to go down town except the young dumb idiots. Killings every day/night. Small children at least every other day. COVID is high. Mostly black on black. A lot gang related.
BLM is setting up a tent city, getting ready to set the place on fire.
Glad we are in the next county.
Well, other than a few minutes allotted to them at the Dem convention haven’t heard much from the gun grabbers lately. Maybe an October surprise is in the works, putting an “assault rifle” in the hands of one of the their wind up toys and turning them loose in any large gatherings. Hey, what’s a little collateral damage, ORANGE...MAN..BAD
Yes -- full body "masks" at all times, for everyone in the state...
Are they shooting bad people? Cause that should work out eventually.
Wait a minute. They need to test all these bodies for COVID. If they have the virus it’s a COVID death, not a gun death. Right, Fauci?
Philli.com wants to make this about guns.
You want to make it about race.
