4 P.M.: PEOPLE TRAPPED AT MAMMOTH POOL As many as 1,000 people near Mammoth Pool Reservoir have been cut off by the Creek Fire and are unable to evacuate the area. They are reportedly being advised to shelter in place, in the reservoir if necessary. The situation was confirmed by Sierra National Forest spokesman Dan Tune.

Updated information has reports of a military Chinook helicopter landing near Lake Edison to rescue people trapped by the Creek Fire. FFD and EMS units are on the ground waiting to receive and render care to all rescued individuals.

Updated info on MCI event at FYI: rescue efforts were unsuccessful, military pilots tried valiantly to land but heavy smoke conditions prevented a safe approach, another effort will be made shortly to evacuate the trapped people in Lake Edison and China Peak using night vision.

I surely hope that reporter was mistaken.
#CreekFire CA National Guard trying to rescue about 50 people trapped at Lake Edison and about 14 people at China Peak. Rescue attempts were unsuccessful at this time due to heavy smoke and darkness. They are going to try again shortly. Multiple casualties believed at Lake Edison

NOW: Due to the rapid growth of the #BobcatFire, LASD is directing residents in the foothills area below the burn area to be prepared to evacuate. Those with large animals, horses and cattle were told to begin moving their animals

Fresno Fire confirms 1 fatality, working to rescue at least 50 trapped
FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) — Fresno Fire Battalion Chief Tony Escobedo confirms there has been one fatality and are working to rescue at least 50 people trapped at several locations due to Creek Fire.
Fire officials don’t know the circumstances or the exact location.
Helicopters are working to rescue people at several locations, including China Peak and Lake Edison.
The Chicago fire was on the same date and lost 300 people, 1/4 of Peshtigo, yet it is supposedly more famous.

Thinking of my friends at Vermilion Valley Resort and Muir Trail Ranch. The #CreekFire is scary. Fresno sheriff emphasized at public meeting tonight that folks at Edison were safe sheltering there, hope there wasn’t a drastic change.
