We need to be Broken Glass Republicans to prevent the Democrats from stealing the Senate on Nov 5. This was from an old post just before the 2000 election, but is still a great rally cry.

A BG Republican is one who would crawl across Broken Glass to get to the polling place today and cast his vote! Here is the first reference I have found to Broken Glass Republican. Posted on the FreeRepublic.com and here is the post:

Didn't remember or know that I've been here (lurking til signing up) since the beginning. All thanks to radio giant George Putnam of KIEV who gave young Drudge an audience and spoke about a gathering place for conversation on the internet called www.freerepublic.com!

Jim and John, I've longed to read the old threads from the unmoderated days, which were a blend of serious analysis, detective work, wild west fisticuffs, creativity and riotous fun. LS finally explains why they were lost in the switchover.

The First lady and me were there briefly, and then went to PBC where that witch tried to start a third recount. We helped prevent it under the Sunshine laws. Other FReepers in Dade did the same.

I forget the goron’s name, but she was relieved of her position by governor Desantis.

As DoughtyOne points out above, he was never my business partner. It’s true that we were both posters to Prodigy before FR and that he was an early member here and that he was a board member of the Free Republic Network with several other FReepers, but he’s never been a partner in FR.

Pretty much how I remember the evolution of Free Republic. However, I think you got the California Chapter mixed up with the DC Chapter. A Navy Vet, Clinton's a Liar, Bobj and others created the Halloween "March For Justice" in 98 (first conservative web based activism in DC), but the DC Chapter with Kristinn's leadership became the most prolific. They were doing something every weekend, rain or shine.

Once the Free Republic Network formed under Bobj's guidance, they organized many events, but not as frequent as men and women of the DC Chapter. They were my heroes. Thank you, Kristinn and other DC Freepers.
