An Arvada man says he doesnt regret his actions after confronting a would-be carjacker outside the King Soopers at 58th and Independence in Arvada.
About 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 28, Paul Heagerty says he feared the worst when a man walked up to him while he was putting away his groceries. The man threatened Heagerty with a gun.
I was like, Oh my God, Im going to get shot,' Heagerty said.
The man demanded the keys to Heagertys car. He says seconds later, there was a gun pointed at his stomach.
It was surreal. When he pulled that gun, I went into tunnel vision. I looked at him and said, It aint happening,' Heagerty said.
Heagerty didnt hand over the keys. Instead, he tossed them several feet away. The suspected car thief took off after them. The distraction gave Heagerty enough time to draw his own concealed weapon.
I took a giant sidestep, drew my firearm, pointed it right at him and said, Not happening. Not today. The look on his face was sheer shock when he looked up and he was looking down the barrel of my pistol, Heagerty said.
It worked. The man took off running.
...
Police arrested 38-year-old Jonathan David Cho a short time later. He had reportedly just crashed a stolen truck outside of the McDonalds next door and was looking for an escape vehicle.
However, Cho made a huge mistake.
He picked the wrong guy, Heagerty said.
Heagerty has a concealed carry permit
...
Cho was jailed on suspicion of several charges, including aggravated robbery with a weapon, careless driving, second-degree trespassing, felony menacing with a weapon, leaving the scene of an accident and aggravated motor vehicle theft.

I would have shot and killed him, no hesitation, to make sure he wasn’t released on “no cash bail” by a feckless system that favors violent criminals over law-abiding, taxpaying slaves like me.
Too many of these criminals I’m reading about have long records - yet are out on the streets to commit more crimes and terrorize more innocent people.
Husband always says for me to carry the gun - because I’m a female with children to protect -and also because I’m a better shot.
Wish I could get one here in the Land of Peasant Living!
Probably good TRAINING! It is one of the best SHTF plan to separate such items like a money clip and a single car key from the rest of our pocket stash. Separating a money clip from credit cards and ID saves a lot of post robbery headaches. Separating house & other keys does the same.
Throwing down these 'shiny objects' tends to distract the villains attention AWAY from YOU. You then have the choice of running or unholstering. For the ladies, this is an essential move, handing the prize allows the thug to grab and that is NEVER A GOOD THING!
Jonathan David Cho remains in custody. Not eligible for bail due to parole violation.
Thanks for that happy, uplifting report!
Hope that some liberal judge does not let him out / no bail..
Self defense works
I’m sure he will reform himself in prison./s
That is too close to where I live.
Remember that in Colorado, you can carry in your vehicle without a permit -unless you’re a prohibited person.
The next guy this animal tries to carjack will likely not be armed, and may not live through it.
He didn’t run....take note police haters.
It’s also not constitutional to require it. A violation of rights under color of law.
The ccp in my pocket is unamerican unconstitutional BS.
Agreed.

Don’t shoot to wound a man with a gun in his hand!
He will be released immediately because he really needed a car right then. Oh, wait! Was he Black?
If he is white he is going to jail for a long time.
