SAN FRANCISCO San Francisco officials announced Friday that hair salons, barbershops and nail salons may offer services outdoors beginning Tuesday, joining other parts of the state in a measured plan for reopening.
Outdoor gyms and fitness centers can reopen Sept. 9, officials said.
Dr. Grant Colfax, San Franciscos public health director, said during an online news conference that learning centers, community hubs and classroom learning and child-care facilities will be a top priority in reopening as well as small businesses.
We know that education, and particularly early education, is a key public health intervention we simply cannot hit pause on, he said.
The strategy to gradually resume the operation of some businesses, with modifications, comes two months after the city put the brakes on wider reopenings amid a surge in coronavirus cases.
Since statewide restrictions were implemented in March, cities and counties have been able to impose more stringent regulations on a local level, and San Francisco had lagged behind many other parts of California when the state began to reopen the economy in late May and early June.
The city had decided in late June to reopen hair salons, barbershops, tattoo parlors, zoos, outdoor bars and outdoor swimming pools and then made an abrupt about-face as infection rates rose sharply.

Seems the liberals need to take the focus off of the riots and resulting hit to their internal polls.
Hey You scumbag Sacramento politicians and my dirt bag congress critter Pelosi
Just tell me when my Godard dang BARS ARE going to be open again !!! OK thanks
Could they be more obvious?
Wow, even here in The People's Republik of Connecticut, those were all open as of June 20th (indoor swimming pools, too).
And most kids are back to school now - *in person*.
Where in San Francisco can you work outdoors and not step in in a pile of sh!T?
Yeah, you bring up a good point. Needles throughout the downtown area. Plus you’d likely be assaulted on the street by the nutcases.
Surely theyll require their queer bath houses also to be outdoors. ;-)
WATTA MOTLEY CREW--Pelosi, Schiff, woebegotten impeachment managers (remember them?)
townhall.com ^ | February 1, 2020 | Congressman Andy Biggs / FR Posted by Kaslin
It appears that self-aggrandizement was a dominant factor in the Democrats foolhardy impeachment of Trump after all. Chairman Nadler could not have been happy when Speaker Pelosi entrusted the impeachment charade to the mendacious Adam Schiff, a position normally entrusted to Judiciary Committee Chairman.
Heck, 50,000 people died from the virus b/c Schiff did not get to make the final impeachment statement "guaranteed to ditch Trump."
Seeing Schiff and Nadler vie for the mic was a moment of inadvertently-produced levity. But it also indicated a Pander Act-----to attain a measure of notoriety within the Leftist base now controlling the Democrat Party.
Who was Pelosi rooting for? Schiff or Nadler? She's never said.....cackle.
The mic fight also demonstrates the continued delusion of the House managers ---- looking like refugees from a flopola Democrat pep rally-----who believe that if they talk everyone to death, using boring worn-out soliloquies, they would convince enough senators to vote to expand the Senate trial. Then they would get to drag this charade out even longer.
Never happened. Nanzi, where did you go wrong (sob)?
Hard to believe, House impeachment managers, actually believe that mouthing mistruths often enough, (sometimes loud, sometimes soft, sometimes with a smile, sometimes with a snarl), these mistruths magically become true. Or at least, accepted as truth by some of their braindead followers.
The objective truth, ultimately wins out. And----souvenir pens or no souvenir pens----the truth is that there simply was no there-there. There never had been.
Look at 'em pictured above......the impeachment squad did not ever want Donald J. Trump to be president. They want him off of the 2020 ballot. They are willing to do, say, and ultimately, believe anything, no matter how implausible.
They even put their faith in the doddering Counsel Robert Mueller and his gang of biased, anti-Trump prosecutors who spent years, and millions of taxpayer dollars, looking for dirt on the president.
Now we hear that extending the investigation was bait---setup as an "obstruction-of-justice trap" for Trump--- should he move to curtail the nonsense.
They were disappointed when even muttering Mueller had to acknowledge that there was no criminal conspiracy between the Russians and the Trump campaign.
Schiff, Nadler, Pelosi, and their acolytes, however, believe that there is concrete evidence of a conspiracy, and that one day they may be able to produce it. Except they will never succeed for the simple reason that there was no coordination, no cooperation, no collusion, and no conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Russians.
Instead of dreamily chasing after their socialist utopia, this bunch forced the entire nation into their nightmarish pursuit of revenge and disruption.
Their hidden agenda all along, after all, was to undo the 2016 election. They want to turn back time.
And, with the majority of senators seeing the best that the Democrat House managers could present, the senators have rejected an extension of this malevolent marathon of vituperation toward the president.
The woebegotten House managers have been passionate about their work. And as sincere about their motives to save the country as a Don Lemon apology.
From mid-summer 2016 and over the past three years, the deep state, Leftist media, and radical Democrats have done nothing to help this nation. Instead, they have relentlessly attacked this president, his family, his friends and business associates, his supporters, and his voters.
While the president has been improving the judiciary, the economy, our military, and American prestige at home and abroad, the vociferous malcontents in the Democratic Party have tried to undermine his efforts and the will of the American people.
Pelosi: Occupy Movement Enhances Dems National Message

Despite some unfavorable polling, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi still thinks the Occupy movement has been politically helpful to Democrats.
In an interview with TPM on Friday, she said theres no recent precedent for the sort of election House Democrats are going into. In 1994 and 2010, Congressional Republicans ran against Washington controlled by Democrats. In 2006, Congressional Democrats ran against Republican corruption and President George W. Bush.
This time around, President Obama will carry the national message for the party while individual candidates use it as they see fit to win in their districts. That national message, Pelosi said, has much greater salience thanks to the Occupiers.
Our statement is we are reigniting, Democrats are reigniting the American dream, building ladders of success, removing obstacles to opportunity to all who work hard and play by the rules, Pelosi said. We have work to do. We think that important to that is enhanced by whats happening in the Occupy [movement], which is the 99 and one. They really emblazoned that in the minds of the American people. Thats what we dedicated our lives to, but they gave it that clarity. People say they didnt have a message. They may not have a message, but they have a statement. And the statement is the status quo is unacceptable 99 and one.
If its a marriage, its not a very happy one. Many Democrats are hesitant to align themselves directly with the movement, particularly as the movements favorability falls. And the Occupy movement itself recently protested outside DCCC headquarters. But the movements key issues like addressing income inequality are still wildly popular and Democrats will benefit from that.

I wonder how many people are going to want to sit outside for their hair services in cold, windy San Francisco?
Mark Twain wrote that the coldest winter he had ever passed was summer in San Francisco.
And thats leaving aside the wandering crazy bums who will no doubt be attending your styling session...
I doubt highly that they will be doing Brazilian wax jobs on the street.
What a thought...LOL!
