Likely Voters Believe the Country Will Be More Divided if President Trump Loses

According to a new Rasmussen poll, likely voters see a more divided America after four years of the Trump presidency but think the country is less divided than it was when Barack Obama left office. This finding is consistent with polling by Gallup in January of 2020. At that point, Americans were feeling significantly better about race relations and several other big-ticket issues:

American satisfaction with race relations increased 14 points between Barack Obama leaving office and President Trump’s re-election year. It was the fourth in the list of most improved metrics, behind the economy, national security, and military preparedness, which were arguably the president’s most significant accomplishments in his first term until COVID-19 hit. Despite the economic turmoil, he is still trusted more on the economy that Joe Biden in the majority of polls.

The percent of Americans who see the country as more divided is nine points lower than it was as the Obama presidency came to a close. This decrease is despite the significant unrest and violence we have seen this summer. That is quite an accomplishment. It is also reflected in a shift in who likely voters blame for the division:

Forty-nine percent (49%) of voters say Trump is more to blame for the division in America, while 45% blame his political opponents more. This compares to 52% and 38% respectively last October.

There has also been a significant increase in the plurality of voters who believe the country will be more divided if President Trump loses in November.

Well when the candidate you supported openly has a coup committed against him ...and then has a phony impeachment hearing.... and the guy whose his opponent spied on him and is on tape bribing a Ukrainian official to end an investigation into his son and somehow still becomes President...yeh I’d say there is going to be a few ticked off people

Not more divided. We will remain divided. We didn't just become divided. It's been that way for years. But any possibility of consensus was demolished by Bushes compact with socialists, globalists and crony capitalists to squander US power, prestige and wealth fighting the globalist causes around the world while ignoring the CHICOMS and putting domestic socialism on steroids.

Trump winning can start to reverse the underlying causes of the division. Losing can only lead one place. CW II.

Yesterday, Basementman let the mask come off, he said that there would be more riots if Trump wins. Essentially, the dems have decided to hold a gun to the head of all Americans and are threatening to shoot us if we don’t hand them power.

What does it tell you about our faith in government if many people believe that the fate of the nation rests in the hands of one man?

It's going to be more divided regardless of who wins.

Never look at a poll of what Americans think. It’s worthless.

If true that is deadly for the Dems.
Few people are going to willingly vote for division.

Wasn’t it a glorious convention, not having one Bush there or any of his global buddies? The global wing of the RINO party is toast and I am ecstatic about it. Its Trump’s party now, so go vote for China Joe, president Bush, I dislike him immensely.

It will. The gimmedat crowd may be quite united in their hatred of whitey, but they like the competition from other tribes even less.

Neither political party will emerge from the upcoming election intact.

The Normies in the 'Ratz Party will go to Trump leaving just the looters and moochers*.

The elitists of the Pubbies will join the 'Ratz Party as looters.

Don't know if either party will change its name.
