China may restrict American access to medical supplies in retaliation for intensifying U.S. regulations on Huawei, according to a prominent economist and Chinese Communist Party adviser.
“For vitamins and antibiotics, more than 90% of their raw materials are produced in China,” Tsinghua University finance professor Li Daokui said in response to new regulations targeting the flagship telecommunications company. “The U.S. will definitely not be able to produce them in the short term.”
Li’s comments evoke the thinly veiled threats that state-run media issued earlier this year as international anger raged over China’s mishandling of the coronavirus pandemic in the initial days of the crisis. He spoke after Commerce Department officials unveiled new regulations designed to make it more difficult for Huawei to obtain electronic supplies derived from U.S. technology, in keeping with American warnings that the telecommunications giant is a platform for Chinese spy services.

Sounds like plan. Duration short! They sue for peace chop chop!
“There were some who went the entire rest of their lives avoiding Jap products.”
My uncle was one of them. He fought in the Pacific during WWII. I remember a Sunday after-dinner conversation at his and my aunt’s house during which the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings came up. One of the women said how terrible they were. My uncle replied, “Well, they asked for it.” He never bought a Japanese-brand car, even after they began building them in the U.S.
Time to have all our meds made at home. Glad Kodak is the start.
So true. Imperial Japan was guilty of one of those spectacular historical examples of overreaching. They thought they could knock out a mighty industrial nation by sinking a few carriers and numerous airplanes. A country as old as China really ought to know better.
Or Nazi Germany, gorging itself on little neighbors and then while duking it out with England they try to take on Russia. Two-front war? No problem. And now today China is menacing its little neighbors...
You’d be bankrupting WalMart.
I would respectfully add:
3) Crush the commie assholes in Canada. (Starting with the boy/girl/it ehose Official Residence is 24 Sussex Dr., Ottawa) MCGA!
Bring the pharma home immediately and put it on a wartimw footing. Communists are scumbags and we should have never let them get the upper hand. This will take time but it is necessary. Stop doing critical business with them like medicine. They are vicious monsters.
These cut throat Communist scumbags have wakened a sleeping giant. Those fools. Now they will lose that business.
And expel all of the Chinese foreign nationals here on a work or student visa.
pproblem being; that a lot of Japanese companies are having their manufacturing done in China—— for the same reasons US companies are. I bought a new high end Japanese brand sewing machine, the advice was simply, make sure you get one that’s made in Japan, if not in Japan then settle for Taiwan, but models made in China are crap.
“Time to order Chinese companies to sell their US assets, like Smithfield.”
totally ... should be done anyway ... no way should our domestic food supply chain be owned by the chinese ...
“Wonder if we can banned all Chinese products.”
walmart and harbor freight would go out of business ...
It’s time to do that and to kick every stinking, spying Chinese ‘’exchange student’’ the hell out of here.
