The speech was the biggest surprise of this presidency for me thus far, and it has been filled with surprises.
It was, in two words, extremely presidential. The media is lying about it already, of course, claiming that it was a dark speech that attacked Biden. It’s as if they are unaware that one of the primary tactics in any election is for the candidates to say unflattering things about one another. They’re being absolute children and it’s becoming more tedious than ever.
While he did tout his accomplishments — another normal campaign tactic which the press is pretending Trump invented — he didn’t do it with the signature Trump bombast. He took everything down a notch.
There were plenty of barbs aimed at all the right people, but he took a lot off of his fastball and struck them out with a change-up.
Like great pitchers do.

As soon as the speech was over, we were treated to the most magnificent fireworks show I’ve ever seen. I kept thinking one thing while it was going on:

I didn’t think it was a great speech. But it was a verrry effective speech. It was meant to influence the fence leaners, to educate them for the first time since the MSM hides everything.

His campaign shakeup a few weeks back reminds me of his campaign shakeup 4 years ago. It was successful then and appears to be very successful now. He purposefully throttled back the acceptance speech because he knew he'd have millions of suburban soccer moms watching and he used this opportunity to campaign, to attract new voters.
I agree that it was very effective. Very presidential. Perhaps a little bit controlled, even robotic. But he’s not an out of control fire breather, full of hatred. He is an extraordinarily effective president. A fine speech.

I thought this speech did a good job of energizing the Trump Army of GOTV warriors. If you are wondering what you should tell a persuadable voter about Trump’s successes and plans for the future, it was all there.
I know the enemedia likes to ding the President for changing campaign managers, but it’s not anything a good baseball manager doesn’t do. He brings in the right pitcher for the right batter. You have starters, mid-innings and closing pitchers. Just because Trump’s campaign isn’t like others doesn’t mean they are in confusion.
That was my thoughts too. It was very effective in getting his message out for the suburban women and the minorities.
I somehow stomached the Rhino and Democrat reaction on Fox afterwards. They were like it was boring, not the usual Trump stem-winder. But it was presidential. The same people who complain that is not presidential are now complaining that he was presidential. It wasn’t a rally speech. It was a dignified acceptance speech, with some trumpet player but nothing over the top. It was obviously. Cord the typical Suburban mom who doesn’t like his tweets. But I didn’t feel it was watered down in any way.
Agreed...it was an acceptance speech, not a rally. He had a few one liners and some off the cuff remarks, early, but then he closed it nicely. I also heard the basis for the debates w/ Biden (if they occur)...the central messages he will pound Biden with from today through election day.

The media criticizes everything he does. When the vaccine comes out in October they will say he rushed it for his campaign. When Covid numbers continue to decline it's because he is manipulating the numbers. When the economy spikes in the coming weeks it's because Obama and Biden laid the stage for it.
