Gov. Andrew Cuomo promised to crack down on large social events in Brooklyn after The Post reported three banquet halls in Borough Park appeared to be hosting Hasidic Jewish wedding parties on just one night this week after Mayor Bill de Blasio warned that a similar gathering there led to an uptick in coronavirus cases.
In the case of New York City, if theres any evidence, or plans of weddings that would violate the law, they should forward those complaints to the NYPD or the mayor. If the mayor is not doing any enforcement actions, then the state will, Cuomo said Wednesday during a call with reporters.
Weve had super spreader events in New Rochelle with the Jewish community, weve had them in the Catholic community. The virus does not discriminate by religious or racial lines, right? This is an equal-opportunity situation. So we police it in every circumstance, Cuomo said.
We dont have any evidence that its worse in the Hasidic community, we havent gotten those complaints. If we do, we will follow up and [investigate], he promised.
Whether its young people at a bar or religious people at a wedding, its the same thing to me. Its ignorant, its disrespectful and it violates the law, he said.
Cuomo has repeatedly criticized de Blasio for not controlling crowds at the citys outdoor bars and restaurants. The State Liquor Authority has yanked about 150 liquor licenses from businesses for violating social distancing guidelines.
De Blasio did not comment on the Borough Park events during his press briefing Wednesday, but he did say that the predominantly Hasidic neighborhood has a positive test rate of 2.5 percent well above the citywide average of under 1 percent. Brooklyns Sunset Park also has a 2.5 percent rate.

But riots still OK.
Cuomo seems to have a bug up his butt about religious believers.

What “LAW”?............
Of course , to make it perfectly legal they need to post BLM signs at the weddings.
No limit to the size of those in NYS.
The audience wearing face coverings would make it look even better.
Where will the homos and trannys get married?
Orthodox Jews vote Republican!
Are they doing anything to shut down gay wedding parties?
How about adult muzzie men who are marrying their 10 year old female cousin? Any lock down on that? Any arrests, fines or jail time?
Didn’t think so. But those Christians and ‘Joooos’ are spreading disease! Unclean! Unclean!
*SPIT*
Haven’t you heard??? The KungFlu DOES NOT SPREAD at a BurnLootMurder event. You can have 10,000 people blocking a highway and not one of them can get the virus. It does not spread form rioter to rioter. I think it is because when you burn buildings and cars it must vaporize the droplets or something.
The few liberals i know who expressed unasked for opinions on Christianity have near hysterical hatred for it. Islam, however, is just fine.

Brooklyn Lives Matter
There, I fixed it.
How about Gov. Cuomo standing up for Nursery Home deaths? This clown has killed more people than anyone...........
riots OK! weddings BAD!
got it!
*rolls eyes*
Establishment authorities in the Middle Ages used to blame the Plague on Jews as well.
While the Dems are trying frantically to change course after watching their poll numbers sink like a rock, I’m very happy to see the more stupid among them (and Cuomo certainly fits that description) continuing to issue the tyrannical orders that are so endearing them to the public.
“Crack down on weddings!”
Hate to tell you, Andrew, but that is NOT a good look right now.
Outdoor virus spreading is virtually non existent. Indoors, with large groups, together for a long time and poor ventilation are what would be the highest risk situations.
The Haredim have probably all been exposed to Covid19 by now. Large families, lots of socializing, hit early, ignored distancing orders. Wedding celebrations won’t make a difference.
