Sailor eyed in possible arson on Navy ship that burned for days
NBC News ^ | August 26, 2020 | Mosheh Gains and Bill Feather

Investigators believe a massive fire that erupted on the Navy ship the USS Bonhomme Richard may have been intentionally set, and a Navy sailor has been identified as a possible suspect, two Defense officials confirmed Wednesday.

The new details in the investigation of the July fire were reported earlier Wednesday by KGTV, an ABC affiliate in San Diego where the amphibious assault ship is based.

Two Defense officials confirmed to NBC News that investigators now suspect arson.

But the investigation is ongoing, and a determination has not been made as to whether the sailor is an actual suspect in the fire.

The sailor was not named, and no additional details were released.

Remember Clayton Hartwig, who was initially determined to be guilty of the horrific explosion on the USS Iowa in 1989. The Navy was quick to blame this sailor, but subsequent investigation determined the explosion was from a different source. The Navy may have reasons to appear to close this current case as quickly and quietly as possible. Perhaps we are engaging in a kinetic relationship with China. They also had a warship catch fire in port in April of this year.

I am not passing judgement until more facts are known and if the facts come from the Navy, I won’t put much on them. I seem to remember the Navy blaming a sailor for an explosion in a battleship turret, and the commander for the sinking of the USS Indianapolis, etc...

Dr. Steven J. Hatfield

The government deep state needed a non Muslim perp to be the bad guy and thus selected Hatfield. It cost them 4.7 million dollars in settlement to Dr. Hatfield.

He was just a most skilled research scientist. What I do not understand is why and how they selected him to be the fall guy for this. What I find even more inexplicable is when Dr. Hatfield was shown innocent all interest in the real perps vanished.

That anthrax attack was by Muslim terrorists plain and simple after the the 911 attacks on the world trade center and Washington DC.

If it is true there is no way he can pay or make restitution and committed a crime way above his pay grade. He needs to just lose his life.

One bullet. Between the eyes. If true he has already cost enough money.

And wasn’t there another notable case of a USN ship burning that turned out to be arson by a sailor or a tradesman working on the ship? He wanted the day off or wanted to head home early. Something like that.

Nothing major. He just basically destroyed a 2 billion dollar submarine.

Yes, but don’t forget, he does have to pay restitution.
