In most sports, the players actually get paid very little money for the playoffs. A player on an NBA championship team probably gets less than $300,000 for his playoff share ... which is pocket change in a league where the average player is paid almost $8 million per season.

This is why team owners are always looking to expand the playoffs to drive up revenue ... because it’s a lot of revenue without much cost for them.
