If you go, you’re as likely to be shot by the wife as the
perp. These things get ugly.

Was out at a restaurant, years ago. Some guy was giving
the women with him hell.

At one point he threw her on the hood of a car.

My friend and I asked the guy to take it easy. The femals
shouted a long diatribe of curse words in our direction.

You never know when women really do need help, and if they
are playing, they need to be careful what they do. Someone
might use a gun on the guy.

In my state if the cop does not make an arrest for a DV (within 4 hours), the officer could be held personally liable for not making the arrest if they had an opportunity to arrest. Girlfriend in the car with children maybe? Guy gets into the car drives away and kills everyone...family sues...wins. Even against the officer and family personally, and the department throws the officer under the bus.

A friend was on duty one day and stopped a motorist for some infraction. Guy was wearing a business suit. "License and registration please" "Of course officer in my brief case "

Guy opens his briefcase, pulls out a gun fires it. Fortunately for my friend it misfired.

Turned out the "motorist' was on the ten most wanted list.

No such thing as a "routine" anything. The cops face danger in any situation.
