A key eyewitness in the police shooting of Jacob Blake on Sunday in Kenosha, Wisconsin, says that police told Blake to drop the knife, though he himself did not see Blake carrying a knife at the time.
The eyewitness has been identified by the Associated Press as Raysean White, and as the person who made the original cellphone video of the shooting.
The AP reported Tuesday:
The man who said he made the cellphone video, 22-year-old Raysean White, said he saw Blake scuffling with three officers and heard them yell, Drop the knife! Drop the knife! before the gunfire erupted. He said he didnt see a knife in Blakes hands.

Wadded paper? That makes no sense.
Add pictures of 'knife-like object' in his hand to cops telling him to 'drop the knife'.
Whaddya get?
Good shoot.
When you're done, please have a word with the homes.
I think what happened was that he was still on his feet while he was halfway in the car door simply because he had nowhere to fall.
Jeebuz, you showed a picture of, of of, a GLOCK, you’re going to get all the old ladies up in here all wee weed up.
Before the shooting?
............................
No, after he was shot!
They’ve fled their farms and taken matches with them.
Depends...Wisc. DOJ now in charge...Hopefully the truth will emerge and sooner is better than later :(
Donna is a racist DUMB@SS, clearly low IQ.
.....................................
Let’s be truthful. Ms Donna herself has the mind of a child, and a racist one at that!
The witness did not need to see the knife.

I clarified this issue on another thread the other night, as follows:
Federal law defines brandished as, with reference to a dangerous weapon (including a firearm) means that all or part of the weapon was displayed, or the presence of the weapon was otherwise made known to another person, in order to intimidate that person, regardless of whether the weapon was directly visible to that person. Accordingly, although the dangerous weapon does not have to be directly visible, the weapon must be present. (18 USCS Appx § 1B1.1)
If it is a righteous shoot, the amount is inconsequential.
True.
The issue -thanks to the Dems- is we have a large segment of the population who feel they dont need to comply. In addition we have others who are aged, or health compromised in some way.
The one size fits all slam bang approach is dead.
Do you deny if he’d complied when the cops when first approached, that he would still be whole?
..................................................
Exactly. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
“Jeebuz, you showed a picture of, of of, a GLOCK, youre going to get all the old ladies up in here all wee weed up.”
I’m one of those “old ladies” you speak of (73), and au contraire, I WANT one of those Glocks. Please don’t generalize and “age” shame. We aren’t all doddering old fools. In fact, I would like to buy a gun and have lessons on how to shoot it, if possible, even though (and maybe because of) I don’t walk well, and don’t want to be a “sitting duck”. Must research what gun I would be able to handle considering my somewhat arthritic hands, and if there is a weapon that would be best suited to my needs.
Im weird. I can understand both sides. Drop the knife or stop resisting is police talk which translates into we are about to kick your butt and have an excuse.
Most normal people if a cop was yelling at them with guns drawn to stop, would stop where they are and make some lame excuses Like I are innocent. I wasnt even there. I was at a friends house.
But you pull over and stop. Weve all been victims of overly aggressive traffic cops with speeding tickets and other municipal fundraising schemes. We pull over. Take The BS trumped up tickets. Then we go to Municipal Court and sit there for five hours. But we live.
As I explained to my adult daughter.
Police agencies are slow to put out information about a serious investigation....that is old school but still around in many places.
The reason hardly any info is being put out is the investigators don’t want to taint witnesses and create fake witnesses.
If they put out the body cam footage early then multiple things happen.
The actual witnesses will be tainted. They see body cam video and it affects their memory....they “remember” things they actually never saw and “unremember” stuff that wasn’t caught in the body cam video they just watched. Their mind tells them...”guess I really didn’t hear/see/smell that because it isn’t on the body camera video.”
Then you have people who were not even there at the time of the incident or maye only heard something from inside their apt ir from behind a fence....then they see the video and it changes what they heard into something else entirely.
The mind begins filling in blanks in our memory with new info input to “make sense” of what happened.. to logically order the event or memory so it “makes sense.”
In today’s instant info broadcasting....the police administrators need to extremely quick quelling disinformation with rapid release of video and images to counter false narratives that lead to Kenosha or Minneapolis events.
The push pull of needs (info to public/protect Investigation) is extreme and in opposition to the success of each desired outcome.
I don’t know where the dividing line falls but it is a problem.
