The article makes no mention of how
AB5 has also hurt freelancers and music-related endeavors. This is two problems they need to fix.
The Save Our Stages Act would:
- Narrowly define independent live venue operators, promoters, and talent representatives to prevent large, international corporations from receiving federal grant funding
- Direct the SBA to make grants to eligible venues equal to the lesser of either 45 percent of operation costs from calendar year 2019 or $12 million
- Allow the Small Business Administrator to issue supplemental grants in the future if funding remains available and applicants can demonstrate need
- Permit recipients to use grants for costs incurred during the COVID pandemic
- Require recipients to return remaining funding after one year from the date of disbursement
- Permit recipients to use grants for rent, utilities, mortgage obligations, PPE procurement, payments to contractors, regular maintenance, administrative costs, taxes, operating leases, and capital expenditures related to meeting state, local, or federal social distancing guidelines
- Authorize the appropriation of $10 billion for the grant program
The way I see it, this would cover at least 833 venues. That's not a lot of small music venues.
Or we could open up the economy and let people attend shows and sign a waiver that they won't litigate if they get the bug.

Music seemed to die about the late 80s.

There’s still good music being made. One of my favorites right now is Post Malone. He reminds me of Beck, another kick-ass artist. They really don’t fit any specific genre.

All the good music has already been made. I guess every generation says this about the music of the generation(s) after them. For myself, all present-day male singers (non-rap, non-country) sound the same to me. Same whiny-ass vocals and lyrics.

Following the proverb "He who pays the piper calls the tune", all music paid for under this act must be in praise of Donald Trump. And no sarcasm. It must be honest praise.

Don’t need it.
You can have an entire recording studio in a laptop.

Everything played and already been played...Over and over and over. Rock was great when it was all relatively new in the 60s and 70s...Then over the decades it just became repetitious, hallow and boring.

The fairground in my area started having concerts on the weekend. They have the parking spread apart and you tailgate. They have had some great bands. There are some band managers or circuit managers (I don’t know how that industry works) that are on top of their game.
