I’m still not convinced he’s really a victim in all this. When I read about the guy’s background it looks like it has “Deep State” written all over it.

Trump was party of the elite NY society. Trump probably mentioned in the many circles of folks that he was tossing the idea of running for President because he didn’t like Obama’s handling, etc. I can’t believe Trump never mentioned a word before he made the announcement to anyone other then his family.

Same here. He didn’t file a lawsuit YET. There is now irrefutable evidence that an FBI lawyer fabricated evidence to a FISA court to get a warrant to conduct surveillance on a U.S. citizen. He could legitimately sue the DOJ and the players involved for a trillion dollars at this point. If he doesn’t, then I think we can all reach the same conclusion.

What has always struck me as odd is that this plot started long before President Trump declared his candidacy. You don’t start an investigation of Russian ties after he announced. Plans have to be made, people put in place to run the show, communications monitored and leaks MUST be managed. That takes time.

Dan Bongino and others have pointed out that the basic script was written back in 2007 by Glen Simpson. They were going to try and dirty up McCain with Russia collusion, but the FBI didn't fall for it. Fast forward to 2016, they change and add a few names to the script and the FBI fell for it.

Thanks for the Comey letter.

You make a good point.

As a Conservative, Page did not have a lot of options.

Spilling his guts to Conservative media would have probably resulted in classified information related indictments.

It is possible that he wont file a lawsuit due to not wanting something else exposed.

Its murky.

He has grounds to sue. Something holding him back

“How did he get so lucky?”

No such thing. He was in on it.

Manafort, Flynn, Papa, etc, the people who actually had to defend themselves legally, were the pawns. I’m sure they would all gladly exchange Page’s bad PR for what they’ve been through.

He squawked to the media in the spring of 2017 after his name surfaced some more. That is why the SSA asked Clinesmith to check and see if worked for the other agency.

My question was subtle sarcasm. I’ve had the same thoughts as you.

For the opposing view, read #9’s response to my OP.

“Because they were setting up to do this to all candidates?“

Yes, I think that is important to remember. If any other candidate had decided to declare war on the deep state, call out the fake news, call liars liars, name names, challenge China, challenge cheap labor globalists, challenge Big Pharma, challenge political correctness of the Left....

They would have met the same fate as President Trump.

The only difference is that whoever tried it would have been destroyed before anyone knew it happened. Hell, there WERE others who tried telling the truth (Herman Cain? Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee...all the way back to Goldwater...).

The only difference is that Donald Trump managed to survive it against all odds.

We are very lucky to have him.

Re: “Flynn did not lie.”

One problem - Flynn swore, in Federal Court, under penalty of perjury, that he did, in fact, lie to FBI agents.

He also swore that he had competent legal representation, he swore he would not seek new discovery or a new trial, he swore he would not appeal, he swore that he had a fair trial, and he swore that he was not pleading guilty just to get a reduced sentence.

Every one of those statements was completely false.

If the Circuit or Supreme Court allow Flynn to walk away from his sworn statements, every guilty plea in the history of the federal courts will become eligible for appeal!

Like Papadopolus, Flynn was set up with process crimes by the agencies investigating him. Carter Page never was.

Every guilty plea in history won’t be thrown out, only the ones that can demonstrate that a guilty plea was extracted by investigative agencies that destroy and/or tampered with evidence.
