'I could not believe it': Grandmother questions why Greeley school is not requiring masks

Aug 22, 2020 GREELEY, Colo. — A private school in Greeley is being accused of not following the governor's statewide mask order.

"I think the school needs to be accountable," said the grandmother of two young children attending the school.

The grandmother asked to hide her identity to protect her grandchildren.

"It’s Colorado guidelines that’s masks are mandated and these are adults making these choices for these children, and I think it’s wrong," the woman said.

School at Dayspring Christian Academy started this week.

On the school's website, a message to families and staff reads, "We will not require students or staff to wear a mask; it will be optional and up to the parent’s discretion."

This was included as part of the reopen plan.

School officials could not be reached for comment.

The governor's office told Denver7 that "masks are required in all public spaces including schools for anyone over 10 years old."

It's unclear if the state will take action against the school.

I ask at work each day if carrying this mask with my thermos fulfills the mask rule. I think it does and does as much good as when it hangs around my chin or fogs up my glasses.

Masks do NOT stop viruses either coming or going. They do concentrate bacteria and then let you re-breath it back into your mouth and lungs. Problems coming, but not from a minor flu virus.

0-9 years old: 0 deaths
10-19 years old: 3 deaths.
