State Health Commissioner Dr. Norman Oliver told 8News on Friday that he plans to mandate coronavirus vaccinations for Virginians once one is made available to the public.
Virginia state law gives the Commissioner of Health the authority to mandate immediate immunizations during a public health crisis if a vaccine is available. Health officials say an immunization could be released as early as 2021.
Dr. Oliver says that, as long as he is still the Health Commissioner, he intends to mandate the coronavirus vaccine.
It is killing people now, we dont have a treatment for it and if we develop a vaccine that can prevent it from spreading in the community we will save hundreds and hundreds of lives, Oliver said.
Under state law, only people with a medical exemption could refuse the mandate.

” youre hearing less about it from President Trump “
Meant to say... Trump tweeted about treatments today in his com[plaints about the FDA.
(Wish he’d also mentioned the FDA holding up rapid testing for public health uses.)
I think it’s natural to have a certain level of skepticism about a new method of doing something. I actually share some skepticism that the Moderna vaccine will wind up being as effective as - for example - the Oxford vaccine. I don’t see an issue with the technology (in theory it’s all quite sound), but I do think that it’s quite complex and will probably require some incremental improvements before it will achieve its full potential as a game-changer.
The phase 1 and phase 2 trials have gone well enough that the FDA approved phase 3 and Moderna believes it has a usable product that will get final approval. Those phase 3 trials cost an absolute fortune and something like 90% of drug and vaccine candidates die in or before the start of phase 3 trials because of those costs. Moderna has spent 10 years on the technology. Other drug companies have worked on it even longer. Hopefully their work pays off, because if it does, we can save a lot of lives in the future.
“Can an employer make a vaccine a requirement for staying employed at that company?”

I don’t see why not. Maybe gov’t employees might have some say, but I suspect they will be pressured hardest to take a vaccine.
“Option one begins with taking a good shot picture.”
What do you mean?
People are being ordered to be injected with poisons that will permanently alter them on a genetic level.
Moderna is producing a poison.
No, it is not. It’s producing the first of what is likely to be many future vaccines on the mRNA platform.
In fact, it’s possible that all future vaccines will be on the mRNA platform if they can perfect the technique. Luddites will not stop medical advances from continuing.
Keep in mind, I am all for a safe and effective vaccine, and I am confident there will be a few in a very short time, but, I am completely against a mandatory vaccine for this issue. I am very confident most people will do the right thing and that will cover those who don’t want to take it (like a lot of folks on this board).
Well, he State DPH can legally do this. The case law was settled more than 100 years ago.
The good news is, how are they going to know? They wont go door to door. If you are not on the government dole, they wont know.
They will probably tie it to licenses and what not. If you go to a state school or work in a hospital they can not let you attend or work.
I would turn religious or talk to you doc about a medical exemption.
A guess is that most people can go months without getting checked.
Except that wasnt a vaccine. It was a drug to relieve nausea for pregnant women. I think if you are preggers you get a pass on most everything these days.
You and Anthony Fauci, whose gain-of-function experiment caused the pandemic, are ideologically identical.
I had no idea Anthony Fauci was a big pro-2A guy. Good for him! We need all the allies we can get.
