Billboards removed after message about poverty sparks controversy
Billboards in Milwaukee with a message directed at people living in poverty were taken down after controversy ensued.
MILWAUKEE - Billboards in Milwaukee that targeted people living in poverty were taken down after some say the message was inappropriate. However, the group behind the billboards is defending the controversial images.
There were four billboards throughout the city with the same message that have all since been replaced with an inspirational message about courage.
Finish school, take any job, get married. That was the billboard message from the group "Urban Cure" for Milwaukee residents living in poverty.
"These are big issues. These are systemic issues," said Amber Flanagan Kinlow. "I felt like it was an attack and not the way to solve the problem."
Flanagan Kinlow saw the billboards go up on Tuesday, Aug. 19 and quickly documented each location that they appeared.

Finish school. Get a job. Marry baby mama. What a bunch of racist ideas.
apparently the truth is racist
Lazy welfare artists don’t want anyone shining the light of truth on them.
Amber ( Karen ) Flanagan Kinlow
More cash mony from your fellow citizens collected by our government by Biden, Harris and the rest of the Democrat vermin?
Thank you for your ridiculous opinion, Amber Flanagan Kinlow.
Amber, you got a PROBLEM widdat???
That people are opposed to the message on the billboards is instructive as to how bad things have become. Oh, and BTW, it's probably the only way to solve the problems, not some government program.
Teen age: Study hard,no drugs/alcohol,no hanging around with punks.
Young adult: Work hard, save money,no babies without marriage.Consider joining the Armed Forces for discipline, self confidence, training and benefits.
Later on: See "young adult" (except maybe for the Armed Forces).
Apparently, those messages hit too close to home.
Ah yes -- systemic. The woke word of the moment.
The truth?? They can’t handle the truth!!
What do you expect from city run by Democrats for over 110 years?????
hard to imagine anyone could be against these basic human virtuous messages which have worked since the beginning of time.
The first group consists of people who followed all three of these steps:
1) Finish high school.
2) Get a full-time job.
3) Wait until age 21 and get married before having children.
The second group consists of people who followed zero of those three steps.
Among people who follow all three of these steps, the poverty rate is 2%.
Among people who follow zero of these steps, the poverty rate is 76%.
(My source for that information is this article, which refers to this PDF, and the relevant data is on page 15 of the PDF. The study uses data from the U.S. Census Bureau.)
I grew up poor. Thats the advise I was given,I followed that advise. The only difference was I left the neighborhood..

Any suggestion that black people have ‘agency’ must be extinguished. They must always and everywhere be inculcated with the mantra of victimization to keep them ‘on the plantation’ thus voting for the ‘rats.
Damn, can’t have the Progressive urban plantation dwellers find the solution to abolishing the plantation.
Somebody changed a Les Schwab billboard here in Humboldt
