In a presidential election in which a record-high percentage of Americans (25 percent overall, including 37 percent of independents) agree that neither major-party candidate "would make a good president," it makes sense that traditional viewership for the Democratic National Convention (DNC) is tanking. The shift to an all-online convention, including a high number of pre-taped speeches, certainly hasn't done anything for the intensity of audience engagement.
According to the ratings service Nielsen, the first night of the DNC pulled about 19.7 million viewers across broadcast and cable stations, down from 26 million viewers in 2016. The second night of the convention had about 19.2 million watchers, down from about 25 million four years ago. Nielsen hasn't released ratings for last night yet.
A spokesman for Joe Biden, TJ Ducklo, tweeted triumphantly after the first night that "28.9 million Americans tuned in to @DemConvention last night across TV & digital platforms, up from 2016 & shattering the previous record for digital streams, which totaled 10.2m even as numbers still come in." But Duckclo didn't include any source for his estimate of digital viewership, leading NPR media correspondent David Folkenflik to ask, "Where are you deriving streaming figures from?" No answer was forthcoming.

Who is she?! I don't know....

Thursday night Biden Show final ratings expected later in the afternoon. I would not be surprised to see the Biden Show ratings being padded and inflated.
In a presidential election in which a record-high percentage of Americans (25 percent overall, including 37 percent of independents) agree that neither major-party candidate would make a good president. . . according to Gallup. Only the ignorant believe Gallup any more.
TG, you know what makes those numbers even more disturbing? Most folks are not out at restaurants, bars, theaters, etc. due to the pandemic. Millions more people were home that could have watched it, but chose not to.
Why is she wearing a white hood?
She is not wearing a white hood. Thats the white dress of the woman behind her.
Yes I can see that. That was an attempt at a joke. And yes I’m not quitting my day job.
I thought that he blew a hole, a big hole, in that characterization, Wallace said. It seems to me that after tonight, Donald Trump is going to have to run against a candidate, not a caricature.
Fellow Fox News personality Bret Baier was similarly effusive about Bidens performance. Hes not known for his public speaking, but this Ive been seeing him speak on the stump many, many times was the best hes been as far as his delivery, Baier said.
Fox News host Dana Perino said Biden hit a home run in the bottom of the ninth. He had pace, rhythm, energy, emotion and delivery, she said. I think if he looks back, hes gonna say, thats probably the best speech of his life.
Even Fox News contributor Karl Rove offered praise, saying Biden portrayed himself as a unifier. He did so very effectively and if I were a Republican strategist in the Trump campaign, Id be worried about how long and how effectively he carries that theme forward, Rove said. Because thats the thing that will keep the swing voters in his camp ― if they are in his camp ― or bring them to him.
WT...???
As Rush has reiterated on his radio show today, Biden is the same old sh*t that DC has been spewing for many years. Every election cycle with the demoncrats is the same. I can only surmise the general public is stupid or ignorant or has a short memory. We know the msm has a short memory, because they present the sos as new, promoting their stale spiel to gin up ratings.
Many people say Trump is not perfect, but to me, he is a breath of fresh air in a stale smoked filled basement. He IS NOT the deep state, he has kept many promises, and that is all I need to know about him
To be honest, I dont have an interest in either political convention. They are nothing more than week long info-merchals. Would you watch the Super Bowl if the final score were known in advance? In the old days conventions were interesting - competition for the nominations, delegates debating the merits of their various factions. If all sixteen or so of the Democratic aspirants were still fighting for the nomination at the convention, I can guarantee that the viewership would be off the charts.
It is a funny juxtaposition.
Adam 12 comes on at 4 pm. Much better entertainment.
Here Here! As for perfect.... who is?!
I didn’t watch the DNC on my TV until late Thursday night when Slow Joe came on to read his speech off a teleprompter. I tuned in to see if he could read and talk while doing that and to hear what lies he was using to trick those undecided to vote for him.
It’ll be interesting to see what the ratings for the Republican Convention are like.
Probably not going to see great ratings for the GOP convention either, but I’ll tell you what will get good ratings: the debate(s) if they happen. People love an entertaining confrontation... and with Trump’s no-holds-barred style and Biden’s erratic condition, debates will be must-see TV.
