A weary sounding Joe Biden, who periodically managed to flog himself into a weak and shrill rage, delivered a singularly awful acceptance speech. When it wasn’t hackneyed, he plagiarized ideas and policies from President Trump and made boasts that were inconsistent with his 48 years in politics, whether as a Senator or a Vice President. The worst thing about it, though, was that he repeated a vicious, and unforgivable, slander about Trump.
Here’s a short list of Biden’s platitudes: Trump is darkness. I am light. FDR was a great president. Help young people by ending Trump’s darkness. America is racist. More darkness, more light.
You must judge Trump’s entire presidency by looking at the six months of the Wuhan virus and its damage to the economy (damage wrought, though he doesn’t say it, by Democrat politicians).
America had the worst virus outbreak in the world. (That’s not true, by the way, but it is true that Democrat policies, especially regarding nursing homes, made it horrifically worse than it should have been.) Trump will kill the economy. Trump will take people’s insurance.
Wasn’t Obama great? Trump isn’t great.
No one suffers in America the way minorities do. Trump didn’t protect Americans but I will. It’s horribly painful when people you love die.
I hereby remember that we Americans are endowed, not by “you know, the thing,” but by our Creator with unalienable rights. I’ll quote more from the Constitution because I can: “Among them life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
My Dad was a great guy. He didn’t want the government to solve his problems. I’ll solve all of your problems.
American young people talk to me and I listen. They want all sorts of justice – economic, racial, environmental.

Anyone can read a teleprompter. One Biden can’t do is answer questions that he has to think about, quite the achilles heel. Biden can’t hide forever, the dam will break in about 1 month.
The Dems’ candidate is Harris, not Biden. So they really don’t care how moronic his blather is.
I viewed about 30 seconds of that blather last night. Wondered what drugs they used to keep creepyjoe propped up in front of the camera. What a farce.
How could any human possessing an iota of critical thought sit still listening to that???????

I saw a few clips this morning. All I could think of was Jack Nicholson as The Joker.
Some have said that the live speech was actually taped and edited. I wish some real experts would weigh in on this with authoritative opinions.
How long and how many takes and edits did it take to get his speech on tape?

Joe has decades of practice in reading a teleprompter. He will continue to do that effectively. Answering questions or even speaking without reading is a different story.
His statement “God bless our troops” was set up as the last line of his speech to emphasize that he was not saying “God bless the United States of America”. It left the lasting impression that maybe he wasn’t talking about American troops, but BLM-type troops.
How can you have a summary of his speech and miss this?

I watched a bit of it. The whole DNC setup and logistics was bizarre and surreal. Looked like a SNL skit or something.
But as far as Joe’s part - he did fine. The debates will be harder but I suspect he may survive that as well.
I don’t think Biden is going to just lay down and die in front of the cameras and make it easy for Trump. Trump will need to knock him out. Shirley Trump can do that. I mean ... after all ... this is Joe Biden.
Biden will be predictably ornery in the debates, all fire and no substance just like what he did with Paul Ryan. Trump needs to expect this and counter it, it's very predictable because Joe can not be lucid and provide substance.
I watched his speech last night, what suprised me was he always looked striaght ahead he didn’t turn left or right I’m guessing that they didn’t want him to move his head because he might lose his place.

Yep. Definitely. There will be a lot of “come on man” and macho tough guy routine. Heck he even might challenge Trump to a push-up contest on stage.
All Trump has to do is get Biden to respond to something for which he does not have memorized slogans. Get him off script and let’s see if Trump can trigger a “Caine Mutiny” moment.
Joe Biden’s speech was 10% substance and 90% touchy feely. Unfortunately That will not Make America Great Again.
