Landlords in Manhattan are pleading with companies to bring workers back into their offices, saying that restaurants and shops in commercial districts are in danger of going under while people work from home.
Meanwhile moving companies in New York say they are so busy they are turning customers away.
Property owners and managers have been quietly pressing top employers including Goldman Sachs, Blackstone and BlackRock to return their workers to downtown offices, casting it as a civic obligation, Bloomberg reported on Thursday.

Of course, they bring their libtard voting tendencies with them in order to infect their new place of residence.
Whats interesting in this case is that these landlords arent complaining because people have left NYC. Theyre complaining because the employers have stopped bringing people into the city who didnt live there in the first place.
You have no idea what you’re talking about.
Sure, there’s some of that. But in NYC you had Cuomo killing 20,000 nursing residents by forcing them to take in the Covid positive. And DeBlasio has shredded the city with his pulling back of police and support for antifa rioters and looters.
Violence has skyrocketed toward the mayhem of the bad old days. And yes, that is on the majority of NYC voters voting in stupid, evil, corrupt and communist pols.
Maybe the landlords need to do something about their mayor who is determined to turn the city into a crime ridden, filthy cesspool, destroy the authority of the police and would take the landlords’ property if he could to redistribute it to his commie/anarchist base.
NYC was such a dynamic playground and concentrated land of opportunity for the young, however, that they had ever more looking to move and stay there until DeBlasio’s malevolent influence started the Cities slow decline.
Then their apparently intentional Covid mismanagement and most recently support for rioting, looting and violence over law and order pand open commerce put the City’s collapse into overdrive.
A swell swell of urban swells.
I wished they would open and keep these liberal a$$ holes in the liberal bubble. My fear is they move to NC and vote Democrat
Liberalism is their way of feeling superior.
Another advantage is that working from home, you don't have to worry about some psycho claiming "harassment" nearly as much.
"We were on the elevator, and he stood less than three feet away from me. He said, 'Hi.' and looked in my direction. My skin crawled. What did he mean by that? My breaths started coming in gasps and I thought I'd get sick."
“My fear is they move to NC and vote Democrat”
No need to fear, it’s already happening here on the OBX NC. Many Biden and Dump Trump signs on lawns.
“The more subways, the more taller buildings, the higher the infrastructure costs”
I’ve felt for a long time that the cost of maintaining this infrastructure was not understood or was ignored.
It’s sad that a British gossip rag has better reporting than anything in the US.
.
If you were making $200k a year salary in NY City....your take-home, after federal, S/S and state tax....is around $135k. In Florida, the take-home would be $148k.
But at the $1-mil rate, you get screwed even more...taking home only $572k in NY, while in Florida it’d be $640k.
“The Big Apple has a bad case of worms.”
Don’t mind the maggots.
I live in Oklahoma. We have bad roads, hot weather, trailer parks, and only a very few cool things like museums or nice public parks. I have never resented my taxes supporting all the nice things and the high life styles and standard of living in New York and the Left Coast . . . so long as it keeps those people happy enough to stay there.
This current collapse is worrisome.

My brother works for a large investment bank in Manhattan and runs a department of about 20 people. Every single one of them has said NO loudly, clearly, and repeatedly when asked if they want to come back to the office.
Since theyve started the work from home thing productivity is up 15%, absenteeism has plummeted, and their profitability is way up.
Oh, and the office space they used to inhabit ran over $400 a square foot.
L
They are pleading to the wrong people. Talk to the people causing the problems. The people in charge.
We have the same problem in southern luzerne county!!!!!!!!
Even though Trump lost New York by a wide margin, he still got more than 36% of the NY vote in 2016 without even campaigning there. The good news (I think) for the rest of the country is that most of the New Yorkers who flee to other states are likely to come from that 36%.
