MIAMI Nattily dressed in a sports coat and slacks, David Rodriguez took a seat in the front row to hear a presentation about an internship opportunity at Procter & Gamble, the consumer giant.
What he heard excited him, said Mr. Rodriguez, a Venezuelan immigrant who was studying business at Florida International University. The company valued diversity. It aimed to hire interns as full-time employees after they graduated. But when he applied, one question on the form stumped him: Are you currently a U.S. citizen or national, OR an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, OR a refugee, OR an individual granted asylum?
He was none of these things. He informed the company that he was a beneficiary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA, under which he and thousands of other young immigrants have permission to work legally in the country.
Before his qualifications were even considered, he received a rejection letter.
It was like a punch in the stomach, Mr. Rodriguez, who is now 37, said of the experience in 2013 that undermined everything he understood about his status in the United States.
He is now a plaintiff in a lawsuit that seeks to use civil rights law to prevent employers from turning away immigrants like himself, a legal fight that is underway even as President Trump is threatening to end the program.
Since its introduction by the Obama administration in 2012, DACA has enrolled some 800,000 undocumented immigrants, often called Dreamers, who were brought to the country illegally as children. Many have gone on to graduate from college and build successful lives under the program, which has bipartisan support in Congress..

“Mr. Rodriguez, who is now 37”
37?
And The Left promotes DACA as “babies and children”.
Should have been forcibly removed many years ago.
Now, just GTFO!
Roll, MAGA, roll!
Not seeing a problem here.

Well you don’t like Trump. Vote Biden. Oh wait. Isn’t that a felony?
It is one thing to deal with the issue when youre strictly dealing with minors who had no choice into entering the country illegally if they were brought in by their parents as say a seven-year-old, however once they turned 18 they should have figured out a plan to deal with the issue and not just rely on DACA. I have no sympathy for these people who waited years to try to fix the mess they were in.
It may come as a shock to the Demo rats, but Americans dream too. We dream of a day when our lives are not stripped away to be given to others so Social Justice Warriors can feel good about their non productive existance.
I wonder how many DACAs actually vote. I bet it is a high percent.
Living in CD5 of MN, I also wonder how many Somali vote. Then I wonder how many legal Somali votes are cast.
Mr. Rodriguez, who is now 37
Has Señor Rodriguez taken the trouble to apply for citizenship by going through the Naturalization process. Apply, wait, take classes, study, pass a test.
Oh wait....the last occupant of the White House said he was just a little kid, brought here unwittingly by his parents, yearning for a better life......Yet, he doesn’t want to do anything for it.
F*CK HIM, the horse he road in on and all the other DACA “kids”.
It looks like he has a variety of P&G career options:

You might be right on how many vote. But the number of those on the government check is apparently quite high. Get rid of that bennie and there won’t be a need to deport a single one.
This happened on Obama's watch, so how is it Trump's fault?
Ahh, I forgot. EVERYTHING is Trump's fault.
37?
What, he was carried in as an infant ten minutes after Reagan signed his amnesty bill?
Thanks for bringing the date to our attention.
These DACA “kids” will apply for jobs and check the Affirmative Action box as Hispanic. That will give them preference over non-Hispanic whites (that’s how we’re described on AA questionnaires) when it comes to hiring, schools, etc. So, someone from a poor white family whose ancestors lived in rural Appalachia will be denied opportunities to live the American dream but the offspring of someone who broke the law to get into the country will be given all kinds of advantages and privileges.
How is this allowed to continue? Why is this not illegal? These DACA kids are in college, have been hired by companies, etc. They’re not citizens and they would have to lie to get where they are. The unfairness of all of this is mind-boggling. For this my ancestors came here in the early 1700s and fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Civil War, WWII? To be treated like second class citizens? To pay taxes for more than two hundred years in this country to support this crap?
“under which he and thousands of other young immigrants have permission to work legally in the country”
No, you don’t have permission to work legally. You are an illegal immigrant, a criminal under the law, and unqualified for lawful employment. The “action” that is deferred is your deportation, which is not suspended, or canceled, only “deferred”.
The funny part is, he is from Venezuela, so he might have a legitimate case for being a refugee, but he surely came here illegally long before the socialists took over, so he blew that opportunity.
Your family must pay for its white privilege /s
Good. If they can’t get jobs and they can’t get welfare, it would be very hard to live here.
Get your ass out of my country! I’m so sick of America being seen as some of kind of Motel 6 for the whole world. Jabbering mutts, moochers, gangbangers, Third World baby factories who drop five or six kids and end up getting free benefits. F them.
