Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR) promotes conspiracy hoax that Trump is “trying to tear apart our Postal Service” and people need to defend “every mailbox in America.”
What with the conspiracy theories about how President Trump is allegedly using the USPS to steal the election reaching peak stupid on social media, in newsrooms, and in the murky fever swamps of MSNBC and CNN, one Oregon Democrat hatched a plan Tuesday to out-virtue signal all other Democrats about how he was willing to take drastic measures in order to protect the postal service.
Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR) posted a video to his Twitter account yesterday of him chaining himself to a USPS drop box in Oregon, declaring “they’re not gettin’ this one”:

He’s posted a number of videos over the last several days alleging, without evidence, the conspiracy theory about Trump and the postal service. He also managed to allege Trump was also responsible for supposed delays in mail-order prescription drugs reaching senior citizens and military veterans because why not?

He’s not wearing a mask, so nobody can come within six feet of him to post their ballot in that mailbox. Disenfranchisement!
While he is chained to the box, attach another chain to the same box and then attach the chain to him, but use a lock that he does not have the key to. Then leave.

The left all of a sudden cares about the USPS now but for years they have been incompetent, unable to even put mail into the right box, don;t always pickup outgoing mail for days even as they deliver mail, etc.
I also see them at strip malls, usually located next to the “apartment building style” box where they deliver mail for all the tenants.

Of the two small cities and the four towns I am currently most familiar with, I can’t remember seeing any of the standard blue mailboxes anywhere BUT at the Post Office for many years..
Maybe the the two small cities still have a few street corner boxes, but I haven’t run across them, and there were a few times I was actively looking for one. I know the small towns don’t have them. In fact my main town Post Office used to have six drive-up boxes out front, one on either side of the main entrance (in addition to the drop slots inside)... for the last ten years or so, there have been just two drive-up boxes, and no door side boxes.
I imagine in the big cities, there are still a few at strategic locations, but I try to stay well away from big cities these days.
I just don’t get the furor (other than for propaganda purposes) If you RECEIVE mail, then you can send it via whatever receptacle the mail delivery person uses to get your mail to you, or just hand it to one one of the ‘couriers as they go about the swift completion of their appointed rounds’.
And if you don’t receive mail, how did you get your ballot in the first place?

Exactly. If you get mail via a PO Box, they will have a box or slot to drop mail off at. If you have a condo/apartment style multi-unit box, one of one will be for outgoing mail or if you have box on you house/end of driveway you can leave your outgoing mail in that and they will take it.
Do people really think the ONLY way to mail a letter is the corner blue drop box?
