Sweden’s top infectious disease expert has resisted recommending face masks for the general population — arguing it’s “very dangerous” if people believe the coverings alone will stop the spread of the coronavirus.
Anders Tegnell, chief epidemiologist at Sweden’s Public Health Agency, has repeatedly expressed skepticism that face masks will control virus outbreaks, the Financial Times reported.
“It is very dangerous to believe face masks would change the game when it comes to COVID-19,” said Tengell, who is considered the country’s equivalent of Dr. Anthony Fauci from the White House COVID-19 task force.
He noted that countries with widespread mask compliance, such as Belgium and Spain, were still seeing rising virus rates.
“Face masks can be a complement to other things when other things are safely in place,” he said. “But to start with having face masks and then think you can crowd your buses or your shopping malls — that’s definitely a mistake.”
He completely brushed off the prospect of wearing masks last month, saying, “With numbers diminishing very quickly in Sweden, we see no point in wearing a face mask in Sweden, not even on public transport.”
Tegnell has argued that evidence about the effectiveness of face mask use was “astonishingly weak.”
“I’m surprised that we don’t have more or better studies showing what effect masks actually have,” he told the UK Times.

It is a great insult to consider any real physician to be the equivalent of Fauci.
I forgot to add that the insult is to the physician who is compared to Fauci. To be compared to that “idea of the day” clown is the insult.

I think masks are our mythical source of hope, like Dumbo being able to fly when holding a feather.
Dr. Michael Savage deflated our hopes when he cited scientific evidence that the size of the airborne molecules of Covid are smaller than the masks mesh holes. Like using a window screen to keep out smoke.
But masks keep big amounts from going from the sick person to all of us.
Still was good to have hope. Now we have to rely on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer for our “science.” She never has released her daily top secret data on Covid and lockdowns. She says IF we could see it we would know she’s justified. “We’re saving lives.”
This mask horse s hit is getting way overblown. Masks, face shields and stupid GOGGLES do not prevent one from getting covid. The virus is airborne. It can go right through or around common masks where ever there is a small opening. Whether you get it or not, depends on the concentration of viruses in the air. That is why they limit the number of people in stores. If you have it, you don’t even need to cough to spread it. All you need to do is breathe. This mask thing has gotten ludicrous. Most people have already had it or been exposed to it.
It’s time to quit with the masks. They never did any good in the first place.
This mask crap now is just a deep state control issue.
It is being used to instill fear into the masses. People are attacking people who don’t wear them because they have been brainwashed and live in a state of fear.

I’m so fed up with this pandemic and I’m sick of looking at all these robots wearing masks everywhere. Within 6 months the population turned into a bunch of useless idiots.

Well, Sweden posted some tough numbers early on, but it seems to have weathered things okay so far. Maybe some hereditary immunity in the genes from what I’ve read could also factor in.

The. Mask is a barrier to spittle that the virus travels in.It is not a guaranteed cure the only folks saying it could be are the MSM &everybody knows they lie. A mask is also not guaranteed defense against contracting the virus the best it does is help interfere with person to person spread via aerosol dispersíon combined with hand washing ,disinfectants being used to wipe down surfaces can go a long way towards stopping the spread of the disease.

Hawaii has the same advantage & disadvantage as New Zealand. Keeping the virus out isn’t all that hard, but once it’s in again it’s got a whole population to work through. You’d have to maintain the most stringent lockdown and total isolation until a vaccine is widely distributed for that to work.
We should have a world expert mask summit.
When a virus is airborne, it doesn’t need spit to spread it. It is a thin aerosol that leaves your body every time you exhale.
