"LANCASTER -- Video surveillance may have caught what police believe was the moment of the abduction of Linda Stoltzfoos. And based on video evidence discussed at a preliminary hearing today, as well as the accounts of several witnesses who told investigators they saw a Red Kia with an Amish girl in the passenger seat, Magisterial District Judge Denise Commins found there was enough evidence for charges of kidnapping and false imprisonment to move forward to Lancaster County Court for Justo Smoker."

According to one of the former waitresses at the Amish market near us, “We’re allowed to ride in them, but we’re not allowed to drive them.”
BTW, a couple of the businesses there are named Stoltzfus. I wonder if they’re related.
Apparently, they’re distantly related.
I was getting kind of all cocky about the time - but your post made me think about how long a standard MAPP gas cylinder would really last.
Logistics says three, for a cushion...
That would work.
Before, moving to Florida, I used to hunt on an Amish farm in Kirkwood. Jeff Stoltzfus was the owner. Super nice people. He had five sons, only one, decided to stay Amish and run the farm. Of his three daughters, two are married and the oldest is still living at home. Jeff calls her, “God’s Blessing”.
I took an Amish country tour in PA and
was told Mennonites could drive etc.
On a separate trip I flew into
Pittsburgh. To get to the car rental
agency, Budget, I took the “people mover” from
the airside to landside terminals.Saw a man, woman and boy dressed in Mennonite
garb—straw hat or bonnet, suspenders
etc
Went to the rental place and quickly
got “keys” to my car (actually a
fob to unlock door and when you placed it
near ignition you could hit a button to
start it.As I went to the area where
my car was, I saw the family again
and the father was headed to Budget.
There have been other reported incidences of attempted abduction of Amish children in Pennsylvania recently. The state police are investigating now.
It is all over facebook
The girl is listed as 5’ 10”, 125 lbs.
At least it has some coverage. FB doesnt exist for me.
Thanks.
SPJNK.
I dont get this sentence:
Numerous witnesses told investigators they saw an Amish girl riding in the car in her church clothes, which would be unusual on a Sunday,
Just another example of poor journalism and editing. Should read, “Numerous witnesses told investigators they saw an Amish girl riding in a car on a Sunday, which would be unusual. They reported she was wearing church clothes.
That’s extremely thin for 5’10”.
Reportedly, she’s from Bird-in-Hand.
The bakery at our Amish market is run by Stoltzfuzes, and they carry items labelled as being from Bird-in-Hand Bakery.
BTW, did you know there was a Broadway musical set in Bird-in-Hand?
One of the librarians when I was in college was Mennonite.
Not good. It sounds like there is very little possibility of a happy ending here, unfortunately.
"Bra and stockings" also sounds like he may have raped her. I'd charge it.
I suspect he kidnapped her, tried to rape her, she resisted, and he killed her, on purpose or accidentally, in the course of her resistance. I hope I'm wrong.
