HBO Max Adds Explanatory Intro to Blazing Saddles, So Watching It Doesn't Turn You into a Racist

Blazing Saddles is currently streaming on HBO Max, along with a new introduction that automatically plays before the Mel Brooks classic begins…

TCM host and University of Chicago cinema and media studies professor Jacqueline Stewart provides the intro to Blazing Saddles. She also did the intro for Gone With the Wind.

A little more than three-minutes long, Stewart’s intro puts the bigotry and racist language in context, the host saying, “as the storyline implies the issue of race is front and center in Blazing Saddles. And racist language and attitudes pervade the film. But those attitudes are espoused by characters who are portrayed here as explicitly small-minded, ignorant bigots. The real, and much more enlightened perspective, is provided by the main characters played by Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder.”

The professor is near!

Blacks just can't leave enough alone and let people make up their own minds....

Now we have self appointed individuals to tell you how to think and reason once again.....before you watch a movie THEY FEEL threatened by.

..And here she is!......Jacqueline Stewart

Nolte: HBO Max Vandalizes ‘Blazing Saddles’ with Patronizing Explanation

As predicted, the Woke Taliban have come for Blazing Saddles, Mel Brooks’ 1974 comedy masterpiece.

No, the classic has not been blacklisted … yet.

But HBO Max, which is part of Warner Bros., which owns Blazing Saddles lock, stock, and barrel; and is itself owned by one of those evil, conformist, all-powerful multinational conglomerates determined to swallow up the world, now forces you to sit through a tutorial before you’re allowed to watch the movie.

This is naked vandalism, a desecration of art, the same thing these eunuchs did to the 1939 masterpiece Gone with the Wind, and every bit as un-American and anti-art as a tutorial that tells you how to look at and feel about the Mona Lisa or “Baby It’s Cold Outside” or Michelangelo’s David.

"Excuse me, while I whip this out!" - Blazing Saddles

Caddyshack??

“No gophers were killed or injured during the making of this movie.”

Although maybe there was a black kid as a caddie? And some jokes about him??

Did they specifically point out that the Irish part was also a parody?

I saw it in the theatre when it first came out and the only ones laughing genuinely were myself and a handful of Black guys that were in the audience.

My wife kept ‘poking’ me in the ribs.

However, the next movie I saw-in the theater- was Attack of the Killer Tomatoes which turned out to be the LAST movie I attended that I had to pay for.
(After that I got to deliver a lot of first run movies and had to wait while they showed it..but usually had to wait in the projectionists booth)

They will probably do that to Trading Places and even Beverly Hills Cop (particularly that scene when Axel introduces himself to the maitre d’ at Victor Maitland’s private club).

I can even see the Toronto sports media talking types doing this to vintage hockey games from the 1960s thru 1980s, telling people how stupid NHL players were back then for not wearing helmets (even though many of us classic hockey fans know that the headgear brought in the appalling problems with cheapshot and stickwork offences leading to more head and neck injuries than ever before).

Going to say it....this is why companies don’t like hiring blacks....they make everything about racial issues whereever they are employed.....People just need to stop talking about it!...and companies don’t need the tensions they.

Do we have to explain EVERYTHING to the modern dummies? Can’t they figure anything out on their own?

They are so dumb.

When Blazing Saddles was originally released no one, not one person on planet earth, needed to have the definition of satire explained to them.

Now 50% of the population requires it and only 10% of them understand the explanation.

Future “smart TV”:

“Please push the red button to indicate you have watched and understand this introduction to continue watching the movie.

Our records indicate you are a white person—an additional fee of ten dollars has been added to your bill as reparations.

In addition, white citizen, please get on your knees and thank the wonderful people for not coming to your home right now to kill you.”

And 50% are incensed and offended because they think it is real.

Mel was and old old school liberal with a real sense of humor

To this day..only Mel Brooks would do and dare to do the “Springtime for Hitler” segment in “The Producers”
its a classic brilliant bit

Do they put an “explanatory intro” into all of the shows they insert porn into that they produce, which dehumanizes people?
