Not sure why all the press briefings lately. Nobody is covering them but Fox and CSPAN so he's just preaching to the choir and nobody is being convinced.

Yup. He is not reaching any new converts due to a media blackout.
He needs to drop a few major announcements in the middle of these things. Perhaps when they get caught with their pants down a few times they’ll resume coverage.

I got a robocall last night asking me to dial a toll-free number to participate in an Eric Trump virtual rally.
Those are NOT a replacement for actual Trump rallies.
Do some research. There are already tens of thousands watching live feeds and Trump's not even up yet.

I think DJT is using these press conferences as public appearances for his campaign because his massive rallies have apparently been successfully snuffed out by the China Virus and the Left.
The Left may have snuffed out his rallies, but the Left will lose BIG in November.

I think Trump needs to stick to his Bedminster format where he has supporters in the room to heckle the media.
They are a replacement for rally for ME. I always watched the rallies on line, and so I watch the press briefing on line-YMMV.
