Kevin Clinesmith, Corrupt FBI Attorney Who Falsified Carter Page FISA Warrant, Expected To Plead Guilty
The Federalist ^ | 8/14/2020 | SEAN DAVIS

Posted on 08/14/2020 9:47:21 AM PDT by bitt

Kevin Clinesmith, a former top lawyer in James Comey's FBI, pleaded guilty on Friday to falsifying a federal spy warrant against Carter Page.

A top FBI lawyer who fabricated evidence in a federal spy warrant against Trump campaign affiliate Carter Page is expected to plead guilty to federal charges brought by U.S. Attorney John Durham. Kevin Clinesmith, who is expected to admit to deliberately fabricating evidence in a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant application, used to spy on a former campaign affiliate of President Donald Trump, was a top attorney in the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Office of General Counsel (OGC) and a key agency attorney under fired former FBI Director James Comey.

Clinesmith is the first individual to be charged as part of U.S. Attorney John Durham’s investigation into the efforts in 2016 and 2017 to spy on the Trump campaign and Trump administration. Both Durham and Attorney General William Barr stated at the conclusion of the OIG investigation of the Page FISA warrants that they had reason to believe the entire investigation of Trump, which allegedly began in late July of 2016, was not legally predicated. Durham was tapped by Barr in May of 2019 to investigate the Russian collusion hoax and determine whether any criminal charges against those who perpetrated it were warranted.

Clinesmith’s deliberate falsification of a federal spy warrant was first revealed last December following a lengthy investigation by the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of the Inspector General (OIG), headed by Michael Horowitz. Horowitz and his team wrote in a 434-page report that Clinesmith — identified in the report as “OGC Attorney” — altered an email from a separate U.S. federal agency, believed to be the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), to falsely state that Page had never worked with the CIA to investigate suspected Russia agents operating within the U.S. In fact, as Clinesmith was told by the operative, Page had worked with the CIA previously, as well as with the FBI.

According to the OIG report, Clinesmith “[o]mitted Page’s prior relationship with another U.S. government agency, despite being reminded by the other agency in June 2017, prior to the filing of the final [FISA warrant] renewal application, about Page’s past status with that other agency.”

"Hope its a plea bargain to dump the dirt and testify against the deep state for a shorter sentence."

I thought I read earlier today that Clinesmith admits that the people to whom he submitted the false information knew that it was false. That establishes a conspiracy. It is my understanding that people who acted in furtherance of a conspiracy, even if their actions would otherwise be legal, are also guilty of conspiracy.

It's been previously reported that there have been visits to Italy to get information from Mifsud and that the Italian government is very anxious to cooperate so as to minimize any suspicion of official involvement. I think today's development argues at least slightly for the idea that Barr and Durham will reveal Obamagate to be far beyond Watergate.

You say “protected” as is you knew what was going on.

Since you do not know what is going on because you are a professional defeatism-sower, this is what is going on:

Just the beginning. He told the prosecutor everything he knows, and he knows a great deal.

Durham wasnt appointed until after Mueller was done.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Actuall he was working for the DoJ long before that time. That’s just when his name became public.
Durham was appointed Oct 28, 2017 by Sessions, long before Mueller was done.
Barr appointed Durham to the investigation in May or June after Barr was confirmed two months after Mueller was done. What difference does it make that Durham was a DoJ employee for a long career before that? Your comment makes no sense.
Publically Durham was not looking into this stuff until then. But he actually was. So he’s been working at this a lot longer. That’s all.
I”m not saying this isn’t good news. It is. But this isn’t a game changer. This isn’t going to change the trajectory of events at this late stage in Trump’s term. Once again the minimum required is done and we’re expected to cheer it. No thanks. We should expect more. Lives were destroyed by these coupists. Barr has let the Mueller coupists continue to assault Trump supporters from his DOJ for over year. Not good enough. Maximum pressure must be applied to the GOP and Deep State. Anything less results in what we see now: intra GOP food fights over Senate subpeonas, coupists free as birds, documents hidden, etc. We must demand more or plan on nothing. It’s that simple.
From Wiki:
In April 2019, Attorney General William Barr announced that he had launched a review of the origins of the FBI's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections and it was reported in May that he had assigned Durham to lead it several weeks earlier.
I havent seen a reference to Sessions appointing Durham to this case. Please cite one. He was appointed US Attorney for Connecticut in the time frame you mention.
On November 1, 2017, he was nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as U.S. Attorney for Connecticut. On February 16, 2018, his nomination was confirmed by voice vote of the Senate. He was sworn in on February 22, 2018.
Don't worry. Nobody expected you to cheer it.
You got a job to do. We know that.
Well, let me know when you have done more from your keyboard. I do think this is a game changer, but either way, you acknowledge its good news. So take some pleasure in that.
Life's too short.
So, who is he going to flip on to get leniency?
All of them. And not "going to", "already did". Listen to 40 seconds of President Trump talking about this today:
John H. Durham Sworn in as United States Attorney
(excerpt)
Mr. Durham has served as the interim U.S. Attorney since October 28, 2017, after U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions signed an order appointing him to the position. President Donald Trump nominated Mr. Durham to serve as U.S. Attorney on November 1, 2017, and the U.S. Senate confirmed his nomination on February 16, 2018.
And you'll never guess who made his first post on 4chan on the very day Sessions appointed Durham.
That's right.
And that person for some time after that referred to a 'Stealth Bomber' working under the radar.
So guess who that stealth bomber was, that Jeff Sessions appointed.
AG Barr went public with Durham's investigations when he was ready to.
This is how you do a huge investigation without tipping the subjects of that investigation.
And everybody's favorite Keebler elf got that particular ball rolling.
