Ex-FBI lawyer to plead guilty in Durham look at Russia probe

WASHINGTON (AP) — A former FBI lawyer will plead guilty to making a false statement in the first criminal case arising from U.S. Attorney John Durham’s investigation into the probe of ties between Russia and the 2016 Trump campaign. The case against Kevin Clinesmith is likely to be cheered by President Donald Trump and his supporters as they look to the Durham investigation to lift Trump’s wobbly reelection prospects and to expose what they see as wrongdoing as the FBI opened an investigation into whether the Trump campaign was coordinating with the Kremlin to sway the outcome of the 2016 election.

“This is good news yet the snivelers still piss and moan”

“The daily pile on by sniveling poo butt freepers is more akin to the pansy ass spies who said they were mere grasshoppers compared to the giants in the land.”

True. It is a victory, no matter how small. I’ll take it.

According to the IG report, Clinesmith, or FBI attorney 2, sent instant messages to different people, including:
“I mean, I never really liked the Republic anyway.”
“As I have initiated the destruction of the republic… would you be so kind as to have a coffee with me this afternoon?”
“I’m clinging to small pockets of happiness in the dark time of the Republic’s destruction.”
He later sent an instant message to FBI Attorney 1 commenting on the amount of money the subject of an FBI investigation had been paid while working on the Trump campaign. FBI Attorney 1 responded, “Is it making you rethink your commitment to the Trump administration?” FBI Attorney 2 replied, “Hell, no, Viva le resistance.”

-- They will let him walk because he'll claim that there was "no intent." --

Give the case to Sullivan. He'll dismiss the guilty plea as flawed on that basis.

OK, so he's finally gotten someone to enter a plea agreement. The big question about this small fry is exactly what it was that he lied about.

Wow...from ZeroHedge article...
Clinesmith, a 37-year-old graduate of Georgetown Law, "took an email from an official at another federal agency that contained several factual assertions, then added material to the bottom that looked like another assertion from the email’s author, when it was instead his own understanding," according to the report.
Mr. Clinesmith included this altered email in a package that he compiled for another F.B.I. official to read in preparation for signing an affidavit that would be submitted to the court attesting to the facts and analysis in the wiretap application.

The details of the email are apparently classified and may not be made public even when the report is unveiled. -New York Times

Altering the document is the false statement charge. Here is a link to the charge:

There are a lot of idiot armchair prosecutors trolling FR today. Making a false statement in violation of 18 U.S.C. 1001 is a process crime that can result in a prison sentence of up to 5 years and a $250,000 fine. A prison sentence is the norm — just ask Martha Stewart and Rod Blagojevich, among others. Indeed, if not for Barr dropping the charges against General Flynn, you can bet that Judge Sullivan would have sentenced him to prison for pleading guilty to making a false statement. My guess is that Durham could have charged Clinesmith with a lot more than making a false statement, but agreed to the lesser charge in exchange for cooperation in the prosecution of others. If Clinesmith truly cooperates, then Durham will recommend a light sentence; if he doesn’t, then Durham will ask for the max.

Clinesmith would not alter the email without being told to. He exchanged that information/PROOF for his deal.

Maybe he rolled on some of the bigger fish.

Perhaps that's the deal.

Or perhaps the deal is that he shutup and not roll on some bigger fish.

It all depends on the integrity of the person who offered the deal.

You are correct.

What amazes me is how many FReepers refuse to take YES for an answer.

Barr/Durham get the first small fish to roll over and take a plea, and the FReepers that want to start Civil War II, are all pissed off that Barr didn't have obama indicted.

We don't know what the perp offered up to get this deal, but it was his lawyer that went to Durham, looking for a deal.

Snivelers? Nope.

I would describe them as patriots being vigilant and after 3.5 years, skeptical.

Compare them to the naives who "sit back" imagining that there is a show.

People lost, this is the opening salvo exposing ObamaGate. A soldier in the Obama resistance is nailed.

I hope it is an opening salvo, but people should be skeptical until they see more.

This must be the small item AG Barr referenced coming out today.

I think that it is indeed good news that Barr did describe this as a small item. That does give me some hope that Barr knows that this is not the end of the story.

Awwwwww shaddup whiner. Your crowd completely and thoroughly sucks. Someone needs to track all you sniveling poo butts for a ping list for when there is a juicy indictment you can all be summoned to apologize daily en masse for piling on and stinking up all these threads for years.

Ah, speaking of stinking up threads, a Q-tard opines.

As I've pointed out in the post just above yours, and many other posts, I've never dismissed the possibility that there would be indictments under Barr.

How many months did you stink up this website with your trust Sessions BS.

IMHO, people should accept the good news and await further. There will be more in ObamaGate, not less.

Unfortunately, it will be hard to get a jury to convict some of the senior people involved who will use national security as their defense.

We can hope for the best but not expect the best outcomes.
