The Mueller team was not part of Barr’s DoJ. As we know, that was a rogue operation to take out Trump.
Actually, most of the Mueller/Weismann team came from DOJ. After the Mueller operation was shut down they returned to the Barr DOJ and continued to assault Trump supporters while Barr was AG. He has yet to touch their proprietorial misconduct, was fine with their treatment of General Flynn for over a year, etc. That does not ring of “honor and integrity” in the AG to me.
What a troll that would be if Barr is announcing the start of another investigation today. I’m past being mad. What a joke.
We will know for sure if Barr is Sessions with a bagpipe or real when one of two tings happen. If he comes out with a blockbuster announcement OR Trump decides that will never happen and declassifies the mountain of stuff he is sitting on. When THAT happens we’ll know Trump has given up on Barr/Durham.
Announcing that BS Durham is seriously considering perhaps at some point to be thinking about beginning to write a sharply worded letter which after reviews might eventually be issued in 2025 to some intern, who no longer works at the FBI, who may have been behind the coup attempt.

I think Barr says this because, as you point out, Trump will declassify everything before the election. So Barr really has no choice.

I’m not convinced that still is true.
Often, the Friday drop is timed to dominate the weekend political coverage.
Enough of the world is in lockdown,that the concept of ‘weekend’ is becoming irrelevant. Working from home means you can take Wednesday as a leisure day, if you want, or do the chores on Monday.
Lockdown also means people are paying attention all the time. Just think how much time is freed up without a commute or meetings or luncheon events or some mandatory social event you couldn’t avoid. The weekend party is gone because of distancing regulations. We all have a lot more free time.
At least Barr is addressing our angst.
