The British authorities are going to crack down even further on Britons who oppose wearing masks, with those refusing to do so facing a fine of more than £3,000.
In the coming weeks, existing fines of £100 for not wearing a mask in public places like supermarkets and on public transport will double up to a maximum of £3,200 — representing a total of only six infractions — under new rules announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Thursday.

Whether you think masks help protect people or not, everyone should agree that edicts handed down from government like this are generally bad for liberty.
I think the same thing happened with Trump actually. That friend of his in New York got sick with COVID and died and he got scared.

So long as President Trump remains against mandates for things like masks, I’m completely on board with him. He’s been pushing for a vaccine for a long time because he knows that’s how this all ends and he’s been very much leaving masks up as an individual decision (as it should be). He’s definitely become less anti-mask on a personal level as of late, but that could just as easily be him looking at all the available evidence before him and deciding that they’re worthwhile for him, personally.

I heard masks stop bacteria but not viruses. Any microbiologists here who can confirm this? I would assume it’s true as when you breathe in a virus that is only 20 nanometers long it can easily pass through the fibers, a mask is not solid.

I think the president knows he’s going to be able to green-light one or more vaccine candidates in October. Let Biden run around screaming about mask mandates for every man, woman, and child 24/7/365 and locking them in their homes and whatever else. The more Biden goes off the deep end with this, the sweeter it’s going to look when President Trump announces a safe and effective vaccine has been approved and 100 million doses are on their way to your local pharmacy and doctor’s office.
That will leave voters with a last minute decision between Band-Aid Biden who can barely string 6 words together and uses them to try and frighten you with ineffective mandates and President Trump, the hero who ended the COVID-19 nightmare with an unprecedented vaccine campaign that began months ago and produced the fastest results in history. Seems like a pretty easy choice for most.
