WHITE HOUSE (Kudlow): $700/WEEK IN TOTAL UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS

LARRY KUDLOW KEY COMMENTS

1/3rd of what the Democrats want has nothing to do with the pandemic, that needs to be stripped out, it is a left wing wishlist, we would love to extend the PPP, put additional money in for safe and secure school opening, President is still open to direct mailing of checks of $1200/person.

We are willing to negotiate, not going to split the difference.

Larry Kudlow appears to say on Fox that states will NOT have to kick in extra $100 per week per worker for federal $300 plus-up to take effect

Can states afford to meet the $100?

Kudlow: "We modified slightly the mechanics of the deal ... the way we're leaving it now is any state that put in $100 before for unemployment benefits - and every state did - they will then qualify for the extra $300 so the baseline of unemployment benefits from states is approximately $400 per person per week (median). On top of the federal government is going to put in $300 so that will give the benefit overall of $700 (per week). There are 16 million people unemployed and they need help"

"The states have already done it."

The problem isn’t the money, it is the labor. This world can’t move forward if none wants to work regardless of income. I say give employed people $200/month. At least there will be incentive to work.
Uber drivers, waiters and cooks are impossible to find.

I’ve heard in some areas the UE offices don’t answer phones.

some ppl report calling several times a day for days in a row and get no answer.

Hopefully being able to get trough online works.

$700 + Normal Unemployment (between $300 to $500+) a week? Why?

Regular UE (the boss says he has no work for you) is still the same amount. COVID UE applies only to people whose job is gone (like waiters because the restaurant is shut) - they get the extra bit.

That's supposedly $700 including local unemployment. I don't know too many states where the average weekly unemployment payment is $400.

Wisconsin is at least $390 wk, but after 8 weeks you have to do a documented job search and submit it before the check is sent

I think it depends what your income was but the 385.00 is the maximum so it could be under 385.00.

If you quit no unemployment. If no income you can apply for Medicaid.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that the self employed who had to close or the 1099 people are only getting a portion of that. Example in Virginia, self employed get $158/week and if you make $158 that week trying to work odd jobs or even limited business, you lose that $158 amount AND the extra government money.

In New Jersey many self-employed are being paid 208.00 after taxes for regular ui.
Something to do with the way the dept of labor figured out base weeks for their benefit.

After you said the unemployed would be receiving an extended benefit of $400.00, I saw kudlow say today that they would be receiving $300.00.

I'm really hoping kudlow mispoke.
