WHITE HOUSE (Kudlow): $700/WEEK IN TOTAL UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS
YouTube ^ | AUGUST 11, 2020

LARRY KUDLOW KEY COMMENTS

1/3rd of what the Democrats want has nothing to do with the pandemic, that needs to be stripped out, it is a left wing wishlist, we would love to extend the PPP, put additional money in for safe and secure school opening, President is still open to direct mailing of checks of $1200/person.

We are willing to negotiate, not going to split the difference.

Larry Kudlow appears to say on Fox that states will NOT have to kick in extra $100 per week per worker for federal $300 plus-up to take effect

Can states afford to meet the $100?

Kudlow: "We modified slightly the mechanics of the deal ... the way we're leaving it now is any state that put in $100 before for unemployment benefits - and every state did - they will then qualify for the extra $300 so the baseline of unemployment benefits from states is approximately $400 per person per week (median). On top of the federal government is going to put in $300 so that will give the benefit overall of $700 (per week). There are 16 million people unemployed and they need help"

"The states have already done it."

The operative word Larry Kudlow used was TOTAL:

Average State Benefit $300

Additional State Benefit $100 + $300 Fed Contribution

= $700 TOTAL Weekly Benefit

TN is about $300 a week. But I thought other states were a LOT more generous with unemployment benefits.

Pennsylvania is awesome for two months I was getting 505 a week back in 2011. I’m sure it’s higher now. So 500 plus 400 is 900! 900 a week would be dang near 50,000 a year!!!!!! That’s some great loot.

“ That doesn’t sound like what Trump was talking about Saturday.”

It’s not.

And what he said today made less sense.
Originally on top of base state UI, states would contribute an additional 100 to get the fed 300. Or apply for special circumstance.

Today, it’s not a requirement for states to do an additional 100 as long as they are paying at least 100 in base UI, they get the fed 300.

But he went on to say the states were still getting an additional 400.

Nothing like muddying up something everyone is watching.

It’s the low wage part-timers who don’t want to come back to work. If you work at a hotel or resort as a housekeeper part time and make $12hr for 20 hrs week, you take home about 220 a week.
Staying home, your unemployment is about $100 week. Now for the goodies! Add on an extra $400wk and now you’re up to $500 week. Your income has gone from 220-500 week. Nice!

Thanks SJB and all the Freepers out there. Who needs to be a stinkin’ housekeeper when you can make $500 week and then look after someone’s kids while THEY work and make some more cash under the table. Ain’t life grand!!!

The Democrats are wanting more votes from anti-social voters by any means that they can use.

"On top of the federal government is going to put in $300 so that will give the benefit overall of $700 (per week)."

That's insane, but look at what they're appealing to: a population of lazy drug addicts glued to sedentary entertainment.

As important as the max state benefits are the minimum state benefits.

E.g., in New York, at 15.7% with the second highest unemployment rate in the country, lots of bizarre constraints on regular unemployment: e.g., you have to make 150% of your highest quarter of regular employment in the four quarters they count in their calculations in order to get any unemployment at all. In regular situations, you’d be SOOL if you failed that test. Now if you fail, you can at least get kicked to PUA at $195 per week. That’s right. At diddly-squat.
