Why some African Americans are questioning Kamala Harris’s blackness
Washington Post ^ | June 28 2019 | By Eugene Scott

Posted on 08/11/2020 1:46:12 PM PDT by rintintin

During the Democratic presidential debate, Donald Trump Jr. shared a viral tweet that questions Sen. Kamala D. Harris’s (D-Calif.) ability to address issues of importance to black Americans because she is the daughter of a Jamaican immigrant.

The tweet — which some suspect is from a bot targeting black voters — read: “Kamala Harris is *not* an American Black. She is half Indian and half Jamaican. I’m so sick of people robbing American Blacks (like myself) of our history. It’s disgusting. Now using it for debate time at #DemDebate2? These are my people not her people. Freaking disgusting.”

I think it’s funny, and politically incorrect, to observe that Kamala Harris has lighter skin than some “white” people.

She is considered a “woman of color” and in the identity obsessed Democrat plantation, that’s all that matters.

Obama wasn’t African-American either. Privileged kid who went to a top prep school in Hawaii. Came to America and decided to be black, complete with phony accent.

I think Harry Reid said something about how Obama didn’t have a “Negro dialect”.

Can you imagine if any Republican/conservative had said something like that?

I don't know but I recall tawny from my cub scout days. We had a badge called the tawny star. It's funny what memories are triggered by whatever these days

Living in CA, I miss THAT Gene Scott. He was far more entertaining that nearly all of the preachers on TV today. I found his white board scribblings to be amazing and unreadable as he kept writing over previously written stuff.

A true test of her blackness will be whether or not Joe Biden sniffs her. If he does, then obviously she is white.

Did you notice the language change?

What happened to African-American?
Now it is American Black?

This is a significant change in that it denies the African heritage. Under normal circumstances I would be happy to see this change in language, but in this case it is highly questionable. American Black has been heard on the Right as and inclusive language vs. the separatist lingo of African-American.

The last time I looked, Barack Obama, Tiger Woods and Kamala BJ Harris are all mixed race.

However, the only one to clearly state that, and correct others, is Tiger whose mother is from Thailand and whose late father had some White ancestry in addition to mostly Black. So, Tiger is not even half Black.

As for Obama, he is half White and half African American.

As for Kamala BJ Harris, she is half East Indian and half Jamaican. Her own father has chastised her on her claiming to be African American.

Yeah, good catch there with the deliberate language change they are using. Its on purpose.

You can always give a libtard a christmas present. Just give them an empty box covered with really beautiful wrapping paper. They only focus on the wrapping, not whats inside.

Kamela’s father is of Irish descent.

That HIS father’s family had a plantation in Jamaica with slaves is what makes him Jamaican.

I knew I read he was of Irish descent and had fits until I located the article and showed it to my beloved husband.

The only colouring Kamela has is from her mother’s side of the line: Indian.

No blackness in her line. And a product of a descendant of slave owners.

And not a peep out of BLM, or the MSM.

We’re not surprised, though, are we?

Shaun King is of questionable ancestry too, but he is a leader of BLM.

Harris is in the peculiar position of appealing for minority votes while her ancestors were slave owners.

Not from what I’ve read. Mom from India, dad from Jamaica.

“Why some African- Americans are questioning Kamala’s blackness”

Because she’s not black?

IIRC both naturalized after her birth. There have been enough insinuations without legal finality on the definition of "natural born." Many claim to know what it means (certainly many here do) but observation shows me that not everyone has the same meaning. Mostly, notably excepting Obama, the alleged deficiencies never reached the final ballot and the courts chose to dodge the issue by denying standing. The case against Obama wasn't pushed by McCain, who arguably had issues of his own there. Nor was it pushed the next time by Romney. Trump could push it and I wish he would. Otherwise the Rats may end up playing it against our '24 candidates. There were Freepers on both sides of both Cruz's eligibility and desirability as a candidate in '16 and I don't think he's the only potential '24 hopeful with issues here.

Regardless of our takes on the desirability of various '24 hopefuls I'd hope all here would agree it would be preferable that those truly ineligible never ran and that there were no internal GOP disputes on the eligibility of those actually running. A campaign spent arguing issues would be better for us. A clearly written Supreme court decision 4 years in advance might stillbirth otherwise inevitable campaigns or might abort potential attacks on party unity.

I believe the “honor” of being the first un-elected president goes to Gerald Ford. Named VP by Nixon after Agnew resigned. Became President when Nixon resigned. No one voted “for” him as VP.

There may, however have been an earlier case ....
