They need to manipulate kids to accept their views on the last eight months. Indoctrination requires indoctrination centers.
Interesting. I’ve heard talk that the liberal view is that Trump wants teachers to die in schools as they get the virus. Naturally Trump is the bad guy who doesn’t care if teachers get the virus.
I’ve heard other chatter teachers unions have other demands, such as defunding police, and taking police out of schools where officers are in schools, before they will go back to the classroom.
And there’s also been talk, that teachers won’t go back we have that elusive vaccine available.
Sounds like their political calculus is changing.
Lots of online courses at the schools but they want the kids back in the dorms. How is that any better? Money-grubbing hypocrites.
Their concern is that millions of kids are not being indoctrinated.
Lot of moms have been cooped up with their brats for seven months....I would not want to stand before them and say “How about another year” !!!!
Otherwise, they have to justify the exorbitant property taxes for empty facilities.

Rush Limbaugh: School reopening debate shows most policymakers ‘have immunity’ from their decisions:
The problem with the decisions by some localities to keep schools closed to in-person instruction this fall, conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh argued Wednesday, is that the people responsible for making the final call are typically the least affected by their choices.
“We can’t sit here and let a bunch of people who will never be negatively impacted by this tell the rest of us what to do,” the “Rush Limbaugh Show” host said. “With all due respect, the medical community, people, the doctors, [Dr. Anthony] Fauci and [Dr. Deborah] Birx, they may be brilliant at what they do, but they should not be the people telling us whether schools will open or not. It’s not their level or area of expertise.

“What do they know about it? What do they even care about it, beyond what they think the impact would be on public health?” Limbaugh asked rhetorically. “And they’re just a couple examples.”
The host added that in addition to school reopenings, many officials who have decided to impose restrictions on the larger economy “are not going to be affected by the policy they impose on us.
“You can’t have that,” Limbaugh said. “You cannot have people who have immunity from the policy, making the policy. You just can’t do it. Then what you’re going to have [is] a lot of people who literally have no ability to relate to the everyday problems this virus creates.”

Schools in suburban Richmond are so inept and this kind of corrupt.
They will offer in person instruction but only at the local YMCA. To the tune of $250 per student per week parents must pay to the YMCA.
Otherwise you are on your own and learning remote.
They wont physically open the schools and somehow YMCA personnel are far more immune to anything than public school teachers in public schools.
So do you get it? 3 kids, if they want in person instruction... $750 a week on top of what youre already paying in local taxes.
Following the MONEY!?
Demonrat haven’t started to cave one bit. They see that people are driven by numbers in this so-called pandemic and as such, apparently school aged children have mysteriously have spiked in testing positive for the virus because OMB syndrome. If the tests results on adults tested are not 100% accurate, then how on this god’s green earth can the 9% be an accurate portrayal of children with it.
The following formula can be used to describe the back-to-school experience: Education = (learning + socialization + extracurricular activities) - indoctrination. As much as I dislike the indoctrination aspect I think the positives outweigh the negative. Schools need to re-open.

Another reason is that parents, teachers’ unions and politicians are seeing that, with so many courses online, all those teachers and administrators are superfluous, and government jobs are on the line.
Word I’m hearing is that Catholic schools in Wisconsin and Indiana have been deluged with applications out of Illinois, and especially Chicago. Between that incentive to leave, and the recent riots/raiding parties downtown and through River North, Chicago is facing the same pressure from its wealthy and affluent as these other cities.
Trouble is, the Chicago Teachers’ Union has already bent Mayor Groot to their will (having threatened to strike almost immediately upon her accession), so even if she were competent she’s stuck between a rock and a hard place.
