Holyoke, Mass., Mayor Alex Morse (D) said Sunday he will remain in his congressional primary race against Rep. Richard E. Neal (D-Mass.) amid a University of Massachusetts investigation into allegations that Morse had sexual relationships with students while teaching at University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
Morse denied ever using his position of power as mayor or as a lecturer to take advantage of students.
I want to be very clear about this. I have never, in my entire life, had a non-consensual sexual encounter with anyone. I have never used my position of power as Mayor and UMass lecturer for romantic or sexual gain, or to take advantage of students, he said in a statement. I have never violated UMass policy. Any claim to the contrary is false. As Ive acknowledged, I have had consensual relationships with other men, including students enrolled at local universities that Ive met using dating apps.
While I am confident that a full investigation into these matters will clear my name completely of any unethical conduct, I also recognize that some students felt uncomfortable with interactions they had with me. I am sorry for that, he added.

Employment and income
For the period 201317, the estimated median annual income for a household in the city was $37,954, and the median income for a family was $46,940. Male full-time workers had a median income of $46,888 versus $41,406 for females. The per capita income for the city was $22,625. About 24.7% of families and 28.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 45.6% of those under age 18 and 19.8% of those age 65 or over.[73]
As of 2017, the city had the most recipients of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance per capita of any in Massachusetts, with 37% of residents receiving such benefits. Of all ZIP codes in the Commonwealth, including those of Boston, Holyoke had the third highest total households receiving such assistance, with the highest per capita of any of the state’s 351 municipalities, representing 54% of all households.[74] [75] A 2020 study by the Urban Institute found Holyoke to be the least socioeconomically inclusive city in New England for minorities, despite them representing the largest group demographically. The report found between 2010 and 2015 the racial educational attainment gap narrowed by 30%, however homeownership declined slightly, and the proportion of working poor marginally increased.[76]
After graduating from Yale Law, Bill Clinton taught at the University of Arkansas Law. He would be the Dean of Law Emeritus today, if Hillary hadn’t diverted him into politics. Coed’s, whoo-EEE!
Not at all uncommon in upper division high school. It always has gone on. One of my father’s relatives married the school teacher as soon as he was legally able. He was 16 and she something like 21, a graduate of a two year state normal school. lots of angry gossip but it was perfectly legal. Te couple settled down on a fair piece of the family farm, built a house and raised corn and a houseful of children. Very happy couple who lived long.

But the hs class I was in definitely had what eventually became a high profile case where the principles planned their romance so well few knew until the girl was in college getting her degree at the same place her swain was now getting his masters. Then they married, hd two children and divorced after 6/8 years. Very surface mismatched couple.
“The university said Saturday in a statement that it launched an investigation to determine if Morse’s actions violated Title IX. “
Why is it that “Title IX” becomes the most important issue in these matters.
Yes, Title IX is about “sex discrimination” in education, but its ONLY legal tie in is not to any person “breaking the law”, but to the school getting federal funds.
It has to suggest that minus “Title IX” many schools would not have a moral problem with teachers having inappropriate relationships with students.
With dead souls, nothing is inappropriate in a nation where the taboo structure has been eradicated by design.
One of my best friends, a recently-retired prof at the U of MN also said that profs having sex with grad students is the big secret that hasn’t been exposed on college campuses. He said that it is rampant. He is a solid Christian and avoided it.
