The California Department of Housing and Community Development is using $100 million of the $550 million it got from the federal Coronavirus Relief Fund to put homeless people in hotel rooms or other facilities in San Francisco as a way to allegedly curb the spread of the disease.
The states Homekey program announced the millions of taxpayer dollars available as grants to pay for the housing and that the deadline to apply is December 30.

” I called room, room service!
I’m down here on my knees...
... But it was cold!”
Seriously, it’s gonna look so good when Newsome explains why he has no money to meet the 25% state participation requirement for Trump’s unemployment bonus.
we have to end the endless money handouts from fedgov to the states.
i honestly don’t care, fedgov isnt the bailout for every states problems and emergencies
historically never used to be
fedgov isnt an endless money pit
yet everyone demands it to be
and then b1tches about the debt and deficits
but dont cut off my emergency money and oh lets extend unemployment again
Whew! Idiots wont bother with getting the drugs out though. Those hotels are gonna be uuuuugly!
“Welcome to the Hotel Kalifornia...
You can check-out any time you like
But you will never have to leave!”
Im guessing some politician owns the hotels?
Doubt it.
But I’m sure some politician’s donor does. And the local media know that- but won’t tell.
Generally, in the midst of this epidemic....the hotels have almost no guests. Whether wise or not...they’ve gone to some acceptance of the homeless guests to make up for this, and figure to sue the city management for damages done at the end (it won’t be 2020 or 2021, in my humble view).
So it’s cash flow....pure and simple.
Wishing the West Coast would break off and float out to Hawaii already would be wishful thinking, huh? /s
Singing the song I hate the most, “Welcome to Hotel California”.
About Gov. Newsom, I could sing a song entitled “A Horse With No Brain”.
About California, minus the good people, I’d sing a song whose words were “Wake Me, Quake Me, When It’s All Over”.
{at 4:00 AM you’re not going to get my best jokes, bubby).
Keep nailing them out mr president. You are funding all of their wildest dream with taxpayer dollars from responsible states. How much has he approved in total for this.
Free ! Free! Free just means let the kids pay for it
Where’s the commercial or video showing a toddler happily playing suddenly being demanded to pay its thousands of dollars share of the national debt ? When the toddler starts screaming “ HOW COULD THEY DO THIS TO ME ???” breaks into tears ?
More corrupt mismanagement
This is great!
Just imagine that you want or need to travel. How do you find out which hotels have accommodated such people so you can avoid them for the next ten years or more?
ML/NJ
Hotels icked me out long before this. Now it’s double- and triple-ick.
Unless it was a dire emergency, couldn’t get me to stay in a hotel / motel.
Can they get room service?
There's a marvellous little inn in Mill Valley with very nice breakfasts!
Maybe we could get 'em to foot the bill at Esalen! I love that place!
And what about the Post Ranch Inn?!?!?!
Oh! There's a really nice place in...some place...Ojai Hot Springs? Something like that. Where you can get prolonged massages! There's a kind of water massage. For an hour or whatever somebody swishes you around in the warm pool until you're comatose with relaxation. It's well worth the trip.
Do you suppose we could get California to treat us to all this? Are their restrictions stringent on what constitutes homelessness?
