Clearly, you dont manage payrolls. This will be a nightmare for he companies that are still paying employees.
Im aware of the way Democratic Governors are jerking us around. I live in a state being ruled by one. So, beat the up over it. Dont triple down on their illegality.
I agree .. but this doesnt help.
There will be a backlash.
I don’t like EOs, either, for all the reasons you stated. It’s not clear, however, that all the provisions will be knocked out by an objective judge. The problem is that the dems will file several identical lawsuits in districts with a majority of liberal judges. When they get a judge they like, they’ll dismiss the other cases. The resistance judge will issue a nation wide injunction against implementation.
But that too will be an election issue. There is a political cost to filing this suit.
What this will (should) do is force a compromise with Congress. It is thus not a bad move.
“What hes doing is completely illegal and will be knocked down in the courts”
I believe someone will sue, but I’m not so sure it will be the Democrats.
I’m not so sure these EO’s are illegal. Trump said he using unspent funds that have already been appropriated for pandemic relief. Not a whole lot different from his transferring funds to build the wall, is it? That battle was won in court. I don’t see how this is much different.
You found it
Payroll managers get paid to manage payrolls. I’m sure they’ll survive.
Youre catching on... no one is going to know what to do. Its a freaking clusterfruck.
I quickly read the EO. It has some small print that may yield some interesting political outcomes.
The first is he leaves the choice of participating with each governor. Will the governor’s of Democrat states work with Trump if they seem to be working against Pelosi?
The second is the 400 benefit. I read it that 100 has to come from state. Where does state get funds?
Interesting tidbits that will play out. Stock up on popcorn.
I will go on a limb here, and say that Trump and his people have researched the applicable laws, and that he has authority to take these actions.
Clearly it would be a lot cleaner legally if Congress had passed legislation, but,a president has executive authority in various ways.
I have not researched all of the ins and outs of executive authority, or existing laws under which he may be issuing these executive orders. I agree it’s not good if there no foundation in the law for him to issue these orders.
I’m assuming (yes I know what it means to assume) that there is a foundation in the law for these executive orders. If not, then that is problematical, I agree.
This only applies to social security tax.
Some may hold up, but the payroll tax change surely will not. Thats the piece thats really bothers me. Ive been praying he wouldnt do this.
I LOVE the idea of it. This is NOT the way to do it.
Taking care of business... TRUMP STYLE.

I do payroll for a number of companies. We are already managing deferrals of social security tax on employer portion. This just adds the employee portion. Software handles it perfectly.
This IS a stroke of genius, by POTUS.
And, no, it WONT be a nightmare. Everything is so automated, these days. Even for the SMALLEST of employers.
Bravo, POTUS.
Are you new? The last President unilaterally”legalized” 11 million people and the Supreme court upheld it.
Yea. I guess I need to go read it too. If its set up as a voluntary thing for Governors to do ? That could get interesting. I could see Rep governors doing it and Dems not. That might hold up in court.
Details matter. Ill go take some time to read it.

So, You think we all must wait for the real leader Nancy Pelousi to offer us scraps while she pays off all the non producers?
