President Trump Wins: Tennessee Valley Authority Drops H-1B Outsourcing Plan

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) abandoned its plan to replace U.S. technology workers with H-1B visa workers after President Donald Trump criticized the power company and fired two of its board members.

“We were wrong in not fully understanding the impact on our employees, especially during the pandemic,” said Tennessee Valley Authority CEO Jeff Lyash in a statement Thursday.

According to a news release, Lyash, along with TVA’s interim board Chairman John Ryder, met with White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and White House Counsel Pat Cipollone. Lyash further expounded on the TVA’s decision, saying it “supports” President Trump’s efforts to continue the growth of American jobs.

“TVA fully understands and supports the Administration’s commitment to preserving and growing American jobs,” Lyash continued.

“Our mission is clear — delivering low-cost reliable power, economic development, and environmental stewardship,” Lyash said. “We are addressing this disappointing misstep and refocusing our commitment on serving our customers and this nation.”

How about we scrap all work visas, forever.

$8 million paycheck? I’ve seen water and I’ve driven through Tennessee so can I get the job? I’ll gladly do it for the paltry $500 K.

The H-1B visa program was NEVER designed for replacing American workers with cheap foreign labor!!! Its purpose was always to allow employers to TEMPORARILY AUGMENT their staff with expertise they couldn’t find here in the US! It is absolutely DISGUSTING that it has been abused so that Americans lose their jobs and it’s even worse that Americans often have to train their own replacements!

Companies have been abusing the H-1B program for decades now to drive down American workers’ wages and import cheap foreign labor into the US. And the cost has been to the American middle class FAMILIES who depend on well paying jobs to survive. Companies that do this sort of thing should have their leadership imprisoned and their profits confiscated and handed over to the American workers they replaced. I have no problem with the H-1B visas being used the way they were originally intended, but this abuse must STOP!

"“We were wrong completely stupid in not fully understanding the impact on our employees, especially during the pandemic,” said Tennessee Valley Authority CEO Jeff Lyash.."

Does lyash's multi million dollar salary warrant such stupidity?

Apparently so.

We haven’t heard THAT outcome yet. He was reportedly pulling down $7 million per year, for a job POTUS said wasn’t worth more than $500K.

Not exactly a sincere apology. More like a statement from an organization that got caught doing something they knew was wrong.

Lying sack of shiite. These pricks knew exactly what they were doing, all in the name of greed, and they're scurrying for cover just like the little cockroaches they are now that the light has been shined upon them.

If you leave these guest worker visa in place, even with modifications to supposedly “protect American workers,” the Dalits will find ways to work around them.

If S386 passes, the Dalits will find ways to exploit the so-called 50-50 rule.

Just get rid of the work visas entirely.

More like a statement from an organization that got caught doing something they knew was wrong and forced to correct it. Hope you don't mind if I added on to your sentence.
