A slight majority of U.S. air travelers say they are not comfortable flying in the era of the novel coronavirus, a survey conducted by Gallup and Franklin Templeton indicated.
The survey quizzed respondents who indicated that they had traveled at least once by air last year, before the global pandemic struck. A slight majority, 52 percent, indicated that they are not currently comfortable with flying. The percentage is highest among those ages 55 and older (69 percent), followed by 51 percent in the 35-54 age range. Only a third of those 18-34 indicated that they remain uncomfortable traveling by air at this time.

I for one do not want to fly because the sky’s are full of Karen mask nazis belittling you over a mask and these check points like Mayor dip sh*& in new york.
Same here. A friend offered me a free ticket for some out-of-town R&R and I turned it down because I refuse to deal with mask Karens in airports or aboard a flight.
Disclaimer, I hate flying. I had a travelling job in the early 80s when flying was almost a treat. Now, in many ways, it’s worse than a bus ride.
I’m not a virus scaredy baby. But, flying in an aluminum tube with 200 other people of questionable backgrounds and habits, with air quality that is also questionable, that’s a hard no.
I’ll fly again when they start offering reclining seats on the wings.
Ive been flying some over the past 2-3 months and its been pretty much great except for the mask game. Flights are half full, security lines non-existent, and for the most part they only push the mask thing if you are walkBig around during the flight.
Flew American last month. Plane almost capacity. On return there was even a stand-by list.
I agree with you. Masks are a complete waste of time and I’m not wearing one for a four hour flight. I’m not putting up with the Karen crowd for that long only to have to do it again a day or two later just as my blood pressure comes back down.
I typically travel a lot for work but I need a lot of gear so I drive. 10-12 hour drives aren’t unusual.
Haven’t done much of that this year though. February was unusual. I was really gone. only slept in my bed four nights. Since then, I’ve only traveled five nights.
Have flown Southwest several times in June and July, and made one trip in August. The planes are so clean they squeak. There is no debris anywhere, no in-flight magazines or other crap shoved in the seat-back, very little service in flight. With 2/3rds load factor as a maximum - it’s easy to stow luggage and the load/offload goes quickly. The terminals I have been in are lightly populated, quiet, and have few vendors operating.
It really makes flying somewhat pleasant, but when you realize that the airlines cannot make money at a 66% load factor, and are just bleeding cash, this is an unsustainable experience.
we flew from NY to Florida yesterday- no problemo
Im always uncomfortable flying. Not always like that but since they only care about money now so they cram us in like sardines, frisk us, have terrible air blowing everywhere, etc. and that was before coronavirus. I cant see myself flying with a mask for hours. Screw that.
International travel is more difficult. Many countries are now asking for results from a PCR test five days before arrival. The problem with that is finding a testing site with a quick turn around.
If you arrive without the results, the country will test you on the spot. A positive result will give you a nice 14 day vacation in a government facility. But the government will pay for the test.
Happy travels!
I have flown once since the TSA started feeling people up.
